Honestly: installing was a LOT easier than expected! You just need to make sure you have the right bottom bracket for it though. Mine is actually about 2 mm off, but it still works! Just a little loose at times, but that’s due to how I installed it.I have yet to do a proper comparison with it and my old rear drive motor, but the mid drive already has better uphill range than the rear drive! You do run into the issue of trying to shift gears, but they make stuff to fix that.The range of it seems to be about the same, but with the added bonus of pedal assist, which almost tripled my personal range! You might want to bring some basic repair supplies though as you will eat through your drivetrain FAST with it, but that’s normal with all mid drives.I might have my speed sensor installed oddly, as it sometimes borks and makes me go double the speed at times (average is about 28-32mph on full power on a 42-11 config) it’s fun! But I don’t advise going faster than 50 mph with it, unless you are prepared, and the bike can handle it.I’ve already put 800 miles into it in less than a month, and it’s been working wonders! I’ve been impressed with the improvements! It’s like my bike has a mind of its own now.Bike tested this out on: DRT 1.3 old. Extra weight: 40 pounds of equipment, and 138 pounds of people.Motor version obtained: bbsd 42t no batt with 750 watt motor.Battery used: 52v 24 amph 1,500 watt e-bike batt.Average speed: 20 -35 mph.Range with my config: 27 miles on one charge. 90 miles pedal assist.Range with all batteries on: 60 miles, and 230 on pas.Keep an eye on your drivetrain, and you’ll be golden.

Will not function properly. Fully installed, but speed sensor (error code 21) shows up on display, motor stops working and.... nothing. Took a long time to install, followed the minimal instructions carefully, watched the installation video from Varstrom, it is all installed correctly, but doesn't work. Also have an additional yellow, triangular plus from the motor that does not connect to any of the sensors or other equipment supplied. I did order shift sensor, which is properly connected and works. But can't find any documentation of what the triangular connector is for.
