Bricked and dismal support
Long time sonicwall utm user and refresh my hardware about every three years. I replaced my tz300 with a tz270 but the new appliance keeps resetting the wan connection every two minutes. I tried different ports, cable modem without luck. Next I called support and after waiting for 1.5 hours on hold got a tech that suggested swapping ethernet cables out no luck of course, then said lets copy your image-config from previous appluance over, nope. Static ip on wan with mac clone, nope. Next support call day after tech says lets flash the device, nope. Sonicwall sent a new device which did the same exact thing. During the support sessions techs gathered logs follow up support emails they wanted the same logs which requires taking my internet down to do this. Sent in the logs and for weeks get a generic email they are looking into it then get another email suggesting we switch ports just like day one troubleshooting.I bought this appliance in late December it is mid May and after 20 hours of time on hold with tech support and 6 months I have a brick. I have asked to return this over a month ago and due to length of time from sale to today the answer is NO I cannot.What I really have an issue with is dismal and unresponsive support. Wait time on to speak with a tech always exceeded one hour sometimes two and that includes weekends. I used to be able to call into sonicwall and get a live transfer 24x7. Maybe these new tz’s require a lot of support and techs are busy I don’t know.
