It’s not immediately damaging. Chlorine is a harsh chemical even to our own natural hair. If you wear it once or twice in the pool you’ll be fine so long as you wash the wig out. But, don’t make it a habit of always bringing it in the pool with you, the chemicals can eventually break down the fibers and fade the wig or ruin the stretch of the cap if you go into chlorine with it all the time. Similar to how swimming in chlorine often can damage our own natural hair.
