I just received mine today and the right side seems to bulge slightly open from the front and rear view. Is this normal?

I just looked at mine and there is a slight bulge just right of center on the front - hadn't noticed it. Doesn't seem dented or anything - maybe just a little bulge to accommodate the cooling compressor. FYI - I have made almost 50 quarts of ice cream with no problems what-so-ever. You only need to put in about 3 cups of mix as the volume expands as it mixes and freezes. It will NOT freeze solid. When it gets stiff and barely turns, you need to shut it off - scrape the dasher and bannister into another container - I use quart size cardboard containers - and put in your freezer to finish the freezing process.

Does it have a cooling compressor so I dont have to freeze the container?

Can the extended chilling (30 min-overnight) of mixture that many recipes call for be skipped due to this unit's compressor?
