Silicone RTV 4500 FDA Grade High Strength Silicone Sealant, Black (2.8 fl.oz)

The smell is horrid, but silicone curing usually is. That said it worked great as "gasket maker" for a large broken silicone o-ring on a stainless steel water pipe fitting.

Used this to fill the leaks around my chimney and fire box on my 15 year old New Braunfels smoker. Thing works like it's brand new. Had been loosing smoke and control of the temperature. Have put about 15 cooks on it since using the product. 6 or 7 big grilling cooks with high temps and the rest 10-15 hour long smokes for briskets, ribs, and pork loins. Used Lavaloc gasket material and this leak sealer, loosing almost no smoke and have perfect control of the temperature again. Looks like my old smoker I almost gave up on, will last another 15 years. Great product!!

This was bought to adhere a fridge door seal which would not stop coming off. It works well and the seal has not displaced since the sealant was used.

I got this to rig up a seal on an aging keurig and it worked ok, but I did some research into "food grade" silicone shortly after and this description is misleading. This product has a rating of NSF 51, which means it's safe for "incidental" food contact, i.e. brief. For a product that will be operating in a wet environment in continuous food contact, or immersed in liquid (which a lot of people are getting this for) you want NSF 61 rated products. Feel free to look it up if you want more information, there's plenty out there. Everyone can't be expected to know about every safety standard, and do all the research, when companies expect us to take everything at face value.

Dries very sturdy and firm but flexible. Very good grade of caulk. Will never buy any other kind as long as I can find this.

Used it where very dark green granite counter top meets the same backsplash and also dark stained wood. It covered about 25 linear feet. I should say my very hesitant son did the work his first time and it turned out great. Probably the first time he's caulked anything, he's an apartment dweller.

I have assembled together with this sealant four peaces of the broken lid of my donabe (Japanese soup pot made of clay).
