Patience, well worth it...
I am glad I contacted their tech support / customer service / when I was ready to give up. They were able to point me in the direction of the correct hook up with cables, and also into purchasing the VGA to HDMI Adapters, which I needed for both of my computers. This was after the second go around. The first time, I didn't spend the time, bought this HDMI Switch and sent it back and tried another brand and also send that one back because it didn't work. So, I am writing this now, to say, had I been patient, contacted their tech support earlier, who were super to work with, I would have been up and running a lot sooner. The device works great! Both my work laptop and my home tower computer are able to switch back and forth, and use both of my two monitors, extended display. Now and then, when I switch back and forth, there is some confusion, on what display needs to come up and I just hold the button in the front and then it reverts back to normal. Very happy with my purchase! It really beats switching the cables manually from my monitors from one computer to the other.I have not noticed any lag in the video quality on the monitors. Nor have I noticed a qualify difference in the audio. My mouse works fine as well. The switch itself, is made of a metal and seems to be durable. There is a beeping noise when you hit the "switch" button in the front, to switch between the two computers, which doesn't bother me.I leave the switch on and turn my computers in sleep mode or powered down when not in use. This seems to help, when I am ready to use my work or tower computer and there doesn't seem to be any lag time starting up or switching between computers. No complaints, well worth the money and very convenient to use. Some things I considered, when repurchasing this switch as opposed to the other brand:* ability to power it on or off.* extended display feature.* response time of the customer service / tech supportI hope my review helps anyone that is looking for a Switch. I had a hard time deciding and read many reviews before deciding. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase, and so far, it has been working out really well.

Great if you don't have a docking station
Device: Dual port HDMI KVM switch.Issue:Keyboard/mouse doesn't work in one of my devices. Troubleshooting guide is ineffective solving the problem.Setup:Computer 1: Surface 3 connected via Surface docking station - Windows 10 ProfessionalComputer 2: Lenovo Desktop - Windows 10 ProfessionalKeyboard/mouse: Logitech wireless with Unifying dongle.Detailed problem:When the active computer is the surface, the keyboard/mouse will only work if the unifying dongle is connected directly to the Surface Docking station, or to the surface itself. I tried connecting the unifying dongle on all the other connectors and none worked. However, there are absolutely no issues when the desktop is active. The unifying dongle can be connected to any USB slot on the KVM switch. This is a clear indication that the issue is not the unifying dongle, but the KVM switch support for docking stations.Final comments:If there was no problem with the docking station, I'd be kind of satisfied with the switch: It does what it's supposed to do, and it does it relatively quick. However, it is clear the internal circuitry has design problems, so I don't know how long the switch will last.An example of poor circuit design: If you connect a powered USB hub to the KVM switch, the KVM switch WILL power on along with the hub, even if the KVM power switch (physical switch) is off. For the price, I would have expected power source isolation at the very least. And if power sources are not isolated, what other poor design decisions were made that I'm not aware of? Do those decisions put my devices at risk?

Nice KVM
I used this to connect my work computer into the setup at my home office when I got a new job and had to use the company’s computer. So now I can easily switch back and forth between my work and personal computers with just the press of a button. The matrixing feature is neat and has come in handy on a few occasions where I needed to reference personal information I’d rather not open on my work computer while filling out HR type paperwork. The controls (mouse and keyboard) only work for one computer at a time, but you can switch back and forth easily and quickly.I do end up having to power cycle it once or twice a week because one of my two monitors will just stop working correctly, which is the only thing I’m deducting a star for. Like both computers can see it and show that they’re connected to it, but the screen is just black. Power the KVM off, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on, and usually that cures it.At first my wireless keyboard and mouse wouldn’t work in the dedicated keyboard and mouse USB ports, but I moved them to the other ports and they worked fine. Later, I figured out that if I press the hotkey on/off button to toggle that feature off, then my wireless keyboard and mouse do work in their intended USB slots. The only thing I’ve tried that doesn’t work on it is my webcam for one computer. It works fine through the KVM to my work Windows computer, but my personal Mac computer just pops up notifications constantly saying that it needs to be plugged straight into the Mac. That might also be due to having the KVM plugged into a docking station that is then plugged into my MBP so it may be a hub behind a hub type thing.I contacted the manufacturer a couple times through Amazon when I was first figuring it out, and they were responsive and helpful.
