Nice for those of use that would rather not drill into our banisters
These are held by adhesive and pressure so no drilling. They were fairly easy to install provided you measure and plan well. It also helps to have the gate you will be installing there as well (i.e. don't install this and then buy a gate. Have all of it ready to go). They are nice and strong though they haven't had any significant challenges to overcome. My son is about 30lbs and can pull on this without it moving. We have the gate that is meant for this kit and they work well together. We are using the banister to banister installation method. The only downside is that they look pretty ugly compared to the normal look of the banister, but I can't think of a way that the manufacturer could have fixed that. Just install and use them as long as you need and look forward to removing them when your child grows up enough to not need them. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling them, but they did come with extra adhesive patches so it should be pretty easy. Definitely recommend.

Exactly what I need for difficult stairs !
Finally was able to put up a gate. I brought the white gate because it was the correct type of gate I wanted but my stairs at the top is designed for basically no room of gate installment. Instead of returning the gate I found this product and was able to get it to work for the gate and stairs. It’s only needed for my cat. Honestly the giant zip tie things with it are extremely strong !! It’s super sterdy!

Works well enough but overpriced for what it is
This is literally two pieces of wood with plastic attachments and zip ties so I feel this is a bit overpriced, since these are all items you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes for much less. Regardless, for busy parents who appreciate being able to just order something to help with a babyproofing project, it does work well for staircases that have banisters which don't allow you to use pressure mounted gates. It was easy to install and seems to be holding up well with frequent everyday use. The one thing that we had a little difficulty with was that the post needed to rest next to our banister, which is on an incline due to the way the staircase is built. The posts are designed to stand on a flat surface (floor or step). Although the bottom of the post didn't match up to our sloped banister floor, we were still able to attach it securely. All in all, we would not have been able to put up a gate on our staircase so quickly if not for this product!

Ruiner of Climbing Dreams
We already had the Summer Deluxe Stairway Simple to Secure Baby Gate (32” Tall Fits Openings up to 30” to 48” Wide Baby) upstairs to keep our two year old twins contained on one level or another, but we didn't worry about them climbing the stairs. Add in our now 9 month old baby who likes to quietly ascend without parental consent, and we needed another gate downstairs. This banister piece worked with the deluxe gate so well, was easy to install, and is incredibly sturdy. We didn't use the screws included to attach the hardware to the wall, though. We used toggle bolt drywall anchors. That's the ticket! We also used some of the adhesive strips from the hardware pouch included for round banisters (since we only used the hardware for a square banister) to cover the screw on the back of the zip ties and better protect our banister. Now we just need a door stop to better protect the wall when the gate is open.

Great buy
I used this in a house we rented as to not put screws in the walls. They also had a banister that we weren’t allowed to drill into so these worked perfectly! There is an adhesive to stick it to the banister but it came off really easy when we moved. Super easy to install and take apart.

This saved our odd sized hallway!!
This was perfect for our misshapen stairway rail. It is huge on the bottom. The bottom is almost 4 inches at the base on each side and the strap still had an inch or so left before it would be out of space. Plus, the top part of the railing is not a circle. It's a fancy shape, that probably has a better name than fancy shape. It's like 6 flat sides. Of course it's not round. What's the fun in that?! We nearly gave up since our Dobie puppies think it's a game to see who can knock the gate down faster. All. Day. Long. Our opening was in between the gate sizes. 59-62 was too short and 62.5-67 was too big. Plus, the top was never big enough for the pressure mount to be stable enough to keep the gate sturdy enough. We decided this was going to be our last attempt. We can't drill because we were afraid to damage the railing and imagined the whole thing coming down if the gate was knocked down yet again. Our solution was this stair railing extension, which really became the stabilizer. Now the pressure is strong and gate isn't wobbly. We also used the round wall protectors because not only is the opening super wide but the stair railing is offset so the top is not perfectly in line. Meaning the wall wasn't built out far enough to be even with the stair railing. If it was a perfect straight line the round pressure mount would be hanging off the corner of the wall. These wall protectors doubled the size of the footprint of where we could apply the round pressure mounts so one is closer to the front door and the opposite side is closer to the back window. That allowed us to have a straight gate from end to end even though it is placed at different parts of the wall and opposite side railing. It is not the prettiest but it keeps the pups from tearing up the ENTIRE house. Now they are only confined to the main living spaces where we are most of the time. I hope this helps and wasn't completely confusing.

Bannister security straps are too short!
The security straps are not long enough to wrap around my banister posts! I had everything else setup and ready to go, but I can't wrap it around the banister since the straps are too short by just about 2 or 3 inches! So frustrating! For now, I had to use duct tape because we have a family party coming up and I need a quick fix. I hope the seller will be able to send me longer banister security straps for this issue...

Buy it!
I have a split level home with a 3rd floor and bought a gate for the top of the stairs to the main floor. I spent so much money on the gate (which was a pain to set up) just to realize it wasn’t going to work. I was determined to figure out something, and I came across this. I was hesitant at first because it didn’t seem too pleasing to the eye lol, but I bit the bullet and bought it. It’s AMAZING. Such an easy set up, and honestly not a huge eyesore. My gate works perfectly and I’m so happy! It’s 1000% worth the money.
