Q: I just received my order. i have 6 old ata hdds, only the ibm's was reading. seagate, maxtor and wdc gave no file or files are corrupted/ , why?

One possibility is that the drives are actually bad. I am going to assume that if you have old drives you have other hardware sitting around. Open up an old desktop and see if they want to talk to an ATA connection. My approach would be to connect the machine and boot "System Rescue CD" (freeware Linux ISO) and see if you can see the drive. Another approach is to get a copy of "Spinrite" which is an ISO which creates a bootable CD will try very hard to to fix the disk. This is the approach I would use. If the adapter won't work with it, try a different approach, if nothing works, then the drive has probably failed. If you have a Linux box running, try a "tail -f /var/log/messages" and then plug in the adapter. Watch the messages to see what sort of messages you get. These are the things I would try. Also: Try your original approach (normal hookup), with a different machine. I did see once where the adapter hit a bad drive and then all the other drives appeared bad till I rebooted the machine (power all the way off).

Q: Does this item come with all required power cables for the sata and ide drives?

Yes, it includes everything you need. For sata drives its easy, plug in power to the device, plug in USB, plug in drive, done. For full sized IDE you will need to use the included adapter board.

Q: Will this work with a hitachi model hdt725032vla380?

I don't know. I used it on a Hitachi model HTS722012K9A300 2.5" laptop drive dated Dec 2007 with good success, but it didn't work with a full-size Western Digital WD1600JD-75HBBO dated December 2004 - so you never know. My advice is to buy it, try it, if it doesn't work just send it back. -Tom
