Quick and efficient
At the time of getting this I'm sure the price point was up around £200, although it's now unavailable. First impressions are that it doesn't look worth this, but I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. There is a CD included for software, but as my laptop doesn't have a CD drive included, I followed the web link provided and there's a more up to date version there anyway, which I downloaded. I then removed the USB and put it back in, which initiated the actual download. From there, to get the calibration, I had to go to my start menu and click on the newly downloaded software. This isn't clear in the instructions, but I winged it fairly easily. Calibrating it failed the first time, but I wiggled the card and the second time was successful. Scanning in a passport was impressive with the speed and literally took seconds, with no buttons needing to be pressed at all. Plus, all the data is automatically extracted from the passport and entered, which saves a lot of time. I actually got this for personal reasons, to be able to save and attach passports to files. Whilst the data can be exported, the images can't, which I guess is good for safety reasons and they can't be right clicked and saved either. For business purposes, this is fab and I doubt many will spend hundreds for personal use anyway. I'm part of a small business, so who knows? When it takes off, I'll be very grateful for this, I'm sure.

Mini Passport scanner
This arrived in its own box . This mini scanner is compatible with Windows and Linux systems . It's simple to install and supports management systems . It's easy to use , the scanned passports can be saved into an inventory . There are many applications for this as explained in its description although I don't think there will be many businesses outside of international hotels that would benefit from its technology . I'm actually speachless when it comes to the price , after all this is really just a glorified scanner I feel £299 is way over its value . I have given it Four stars based on its compact design , easy to install system and copying quality .

Reliable
Plustek are a respected company that can be trusted to deliver a quality product. While it is pricy this is a reliable and good quality scanner, it’s clearly for use within a business and you wouldn’t want to use a cheap knock off scanner as it probably doesn’t meet the high standards you would expect for use within an reputable business. You will find the price is on parr with other similar items of this quality. Very easy to use and provides a clear and precise image.

Efficient for businesses
This is a very good passport and ID scanner. It's great for hotels, or nightclubs or businesses that need to quickly scan IDs and can do so efficiently. It takes a second to save the file. The file doesn't connect to a cloud or online system for confidentiality reasons and the files will be deleted within 60 months and are protected by a password or key. We found set up a little bit tricky as we're both not great with tech. You need to make sure your computer or laptop has a CD port as you need that for set up. It is supported by most operating systems. It includes the secure scan and OCR programmes which I wasn't familiar with but they are very reliable programmes for scanning and managing files. I know others said it's expensive but after doing a quick market search, this is the price you pay for most passport scanners and actually this one is mini and portable which makes it even easier for businesses to use. I definitely recommend it. It will save staff time and reduce errors.

Huge timesaver
This is a quality scanner at a great price. If you're on the fence about it, just buy it. Very compact, SecureScan X-Mini has OCR function to reduce human errors and helps input the accurate customer profile data for better work productivity, can reduce paperwork and have personal data into digitalisation. Support Windows 7/8/8.1/10 & Linux This machine is totally awesome and worth the money!!

Das Gerät selbst ist in Ordnung, die Software ist etwas veraltet und nicht so gut optimiert. Tut zwar was sie soll, ist aber für diese Preis etwas hoch.

Plustek advertises this scanner as being a Windows scanner, and in fact explicitly states on their website that their scanners have Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) support, ie it works with any Windows scanning application. That's false and misleading: this scanner does not support WIA, you need to use PlusTek's software to scan, which is fine for some people. I required a scanner to use with other applications, so this scanner didn't work for me. An email to PlusTek's support about this took a week(!) to get a very cryptic reply, saying "contact sales", which was not a reply to my question at all. Sales did not reply, and when I asked for clarification, I got an email stating that if I didn't have any more questions, they would close my case. I would avoid this scanner unless you plan on using PlusTek's software exclusively, and don't need any support whatsoever.
