Hagen HG Fluval FX5/FX6 Motor Unit

i have a fx5 for 19 years on 110. gal tank worked great ..till motor quit..bought fx6 replacement motor/pump and it fit perfect ..took about 10 min to change..Easy to do..hope it lasts like the other one..time will tell ..cost was about half the price of a new filter...

Waste of money. Product as sold would make FX6 filter stop running. Seems like the impeller would get jammed. This happened consistently after multiple efforts of re-install as a pair.No clue why, but it’s junk as is. When the impeller stopped running overnight, it created enough pressure in canister for the unit to leak water everywhere out of oring areas.Ended up using the impeller in my old unit body without any issues. Since it was past the 30 day when I decided to use my surplus motor, Neither fluval customer service, seller or Amazon would help. Ended up just donating the money basically to a faulty product and wasting time, Plus I was insulted by customer service who was convinced I don’t know how to clean a filter And told me what I’m experiencing is impossible, even after 20 years plus as a hobbyist. SmhHighly recommend to just go to a local fish store and purchase a $75 impeller instead of this complete unit.Negative stars was an option, I would give five.

The product was plug and play for my filter. Good value for the price and so far working great.

Simple to install. Does not come with screws so make sure to keep the screws from the old motor unit. Keep the o-ring too as you can keep the new one for future use. I tried just an impeller change first but it turned out to be the motor unit. The FX6 maintenance package is nice to have though when you have a bunch of these as typically it is just the impeller.
