Just some background. When I was about 8 years old, all students had to take a dip pen class. I struggled, and my handwriting has been horrible ever since. I tried to revisit calligraphy many times over the decades but would give up. Three years ago I felt inspired again and bought this nib. Again, I gave up. Due to covid and having time to myself I figured let's try again. I can be determined! Well, I had good results with the Tombow brush pen. I tried writing with some cheap glitter pens, they worked well too. I'm feeling confident now, so I figured I'd try the dip pen. Results were somewhat disappointing. What I didn't like was there was no distinct thick/thin line. Well, I had a variety of inks in my stash, and I switched to a metallic pigmented acrylic ink from Speedball. It's old, and a little thick, but what a difference with the lines! The moral of my story is don't give up even after 40+ years...lol. This nib is good, and if you are having problems, it could be the ink! FYI if your ink is too thin, you can thicken it up with gum arabic. I haven't tried this yet, but the website I went too gave some very useful information on what to do, and how to make some custom dip pen inks.

This nib is best for those who are starting to use G pen. It has Fine line capacity around 0.2mm and thick line capacity around 1 mm. So it is ideal for manga styled artwork!

Been through several sets of nibs before this one for copperplate calligraphy. These have been the best, as it's really easy to control the pressure/ line thickness.

After watching some different Copperplate calligraphy You Tube videos most calligraphers #1 recommendation for beginners was the Nikko G for lettering. It gives you a nice thin line and varied thick lines depending on pressure. I am using it in a Tachikawa 40 dip pen holder, as left hangers can use straight pen holder instead of oblique. My light box with my lined sheet under a sheet HP Premium 32 lb copy paper is a great working surface for writing practice. Do not forget to clean your nibs before your first use to get the oil off. I used nail polish remover, ( you can also use rubbing alcohol ) dipped it in rinsed really well, wiped clean, worked like a charm. These are very nice nibs that also work fabulous for pen and ink drawing over my watercolour paintings. Delivered before arrival date. I expect these 3 nibs to last quite awhile, seem like great quality. I will definitely be replacing them when needed from this seller. Highly recommend the Nikko G nib and this seller through Amazon. If you are looking for a great dip pen nib, you have just found it.
