I wanted to start using my old, everyday Sheaffer fountain pen but didn't want to have to fork out for new cartridges or a converter. I took a punt on these syringes (under £4) in the hope that they'd work as well as the hype. I had one empty cartridge left in the pen and in less than 2 minutes I had filled it with my preferred ink - no mess, no fuss, no leaks. I'm very pleased :) As someone who often leaves my pen idle for several minutes and finds it frustrating to pick it up to use only to find the ink has dried and I need to encourage the ink to flow again, it's great to be able to use my preferred ink that continues to flow easily after a period of no use (several minutes with the top off, or several days with the top on). Four quid well spent.

I never imagined that the ritual of filling my fountains pens could get anymore enjoyable until I discovered these little gems! Now the whole process is slick, once I'd worked out how to fit it together! I didn't get covered in ink or knock the ink bottle over. I have a little syringe now for each of my coloured inks. Great device and have already bought another pack to keep at work.

I actually returned these, but they didn't need me to send them back (probably due to cost). Since I had 5 of them and nothing to do with them, I modified one to see if it would work. After modifying a small syringe (from pet medicine) , I managed to attach the needle bit to the syringe and that's how I use it - for filling a pen cartridge with ink (my Parker pen large Cartridge hold almost twice more ink than the converter - silly...) . Using a syringe rather than the filling of this product makes it way more easier to fill with ink and expel it too and also more quantity. The spring is also quite hard and unless you know what you are doing and in a tiled room, it could potentially get Very messy, Very fast.

I didnt know such a thing existed until I was lent one. They are SOOOO handy for working with ink!! Wish I had known about them sooner, would have saved a lot of cleaning up. I use converters, but I can see these being extremely useful for cartridges, should you wanted to try to refill. I have used them to empty the converters when trying out inks; helping to rinse out the converters; and of course, filling with fresh ink. I havent spilled a drop, nor needed to wipe down a pen section since starting to use them. If you use a fountain pen, you absolutely need to have these!! PS: I am not entirely sure what the internal spring is supposed to do; but I find that it is effective at cleaning the residual ink after filling, by drawing in water and then shaking, so the spring clears the ink from the sides of the syringe.

Incompatible with my Parker Vector fountain pens unfortunately. Good value as it’s multiple pieces for so cheap, and they seem robust enough. Will find another use for them for something.

OK, such a simple "thing" shouldn't cause so much surprise really...but these fountain pen refill syringes work really very well. I have been using some ageing small 0.5ml medical syringes that I purchased about 20yrs ago, so had started to get a little messy when refilling the reservoirs of my fountain pens, these make the refill operation much easier and cleaner, so highly recommended if you want to use a fountain pen with bottled ink rather than cartridges...
