I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas: Great for Holiday and Christmas Reading or Gifting

We got this as a gift for someone who loves the song. The book is the lyrics to the song in book form with matching artwork. That doesn’t sound very special at first thought. The artwork makes this book highly worthwhile. The watercolors are beautiful, the way the artist brings images from the song to life is enchanting, and the emotion and bond between the little girl and the hippo is really heartwarming. If you like the song, get it!

Such a cute book using the lyrics from the very old Christmas song! Colorful illustrations. I played the song several times on my cell phone and then my grandchildren and I try to sing through the book. Lots of fun!

Fun book for my grandnephew whose mom likes hippos. At his age (<1 year old), it's important the parents like the book as well.

I bought this for my youngest niece since she repeatedly requested a hippopotamus for Christmas from me. So, I found this book on Amazon and immediately ordered it for her. My order came quickly and in good condition I was super excited! The book is adorable! I do not recall the one particular part in the book where the little girl is talking about cleaning her hippo in the garage as being apart of the song but, I am no expert and it's cute none the less. The illustrations are great! I laughed hysterically at the majority of them! I enjoyed the book very much and I am excited to give my niece this book for Christmas :-)

Very vivid and beautiful artwork. There is a part or two where the words don’t match the original song!

If you love the song, or love hippos this is a good book to share that love with a little one. The illustrations are fantastic! The story follows the song nicely and the song is printed in the back pages.

Five stars for the book and story; however, the dust cover was slightly ripped on the upper outside corner. Since the book itself was not damaged in any way a small bit of clear tape solved the problem and the book was giftable for my grandson. Thanks.

I *sing* this book year round. Every child loves it and every child says, “Again!” after each read through. Even the adults love it.
