Great Sound, Great Price
I am not an audiophile, but I do appreciate the value of these speakers. I installed these in the ceiling of my family room, widely separated above the TV. With the speakers at fair distance from the primary viewing position I do notice some loss of sound(low-mid range?) when you are not close to beneath them. It would be ideal to have these aimed more directly at the listening position, but the pivoting tweeters seem to help some.I originally paired these with an old, cheap, but powerful, stereo receiver. They did not put out much bass until a good break in period. I have used them lightly for 6 weeks and am now getting good sound. I finally paired them with a new receiver Onkyo TX-NR515 which has less power but much cleaner sound. With the new receiver, I tried turning up the volume some and get great full range sound for any music and movie effects. Though, as mentioned before, it is best when the speakers are aimed directly at you. You don't necessarily need a separate sub with these. I tried a brief bass sampling and they appear to have some bass in the 33-35 Hz range but not much until you hit the rated 38Hz minimum. I plan to add a sub(probably a BIC since I am so happy with these) mainly so that I can increase the low frequency effects in movies without have to crank the general volume so high. I really don't think a sub is necessary for music unless you want excessive bass or very low frequencies.

HT8C-8 good for the price
I installed them in the ceiling (Surround Left &Right). They fill in good. There is a subtle difference in the sound that I can pick up. When mounting in ceiling keep in mind that the sound is directional. Moving the tweeter helps. Easy installation and good looking. Sound quality is great considering its not in a box. I knew that I wasn't going to get the best sound quality in the ceiling but I had no choice. Planning on getting two more for rear.

I really hate these speakers didnt live up to their name
I own a small Home Theater installation company in Memphis and have used BICs hundreds of other times and have never been disappointed in a BIC product till these. The highs and mids are great but the low end is horrible. They bottom out entirely too easy. I have since removed them from my customers ceiling and went back with a speaker that i knew would do the job. At this price point, check out Dayton Audio from PartsExpress. They also sell them here on amazon and ship from partsexpress. These speakers are garbage if you know what you're listening to,

Two Stars
The tweeter fell off :/

Decent surround speaker
They're a goid value, but I would opt for the 3-way as a better choice. Good bass, highs just not crisp enough for my taste. A good surround speaker tho.

Well designed and good quality
Ceiling speakers are a comprimise for looks over sound quality, but if looks are a priority a pair of these is a good way to go. I painted the rims the same color as the ceiling, and they 'disappear' from obvious sight. If you're directly under and centered on them the sound quality is very good. As you move off-axis, the sound is more appropriate for background music, which is probably what most people want anyway. The template and clips did a good job of helping me get them secure in the ceiling drywall, and I have not heard a trace of any rattling/buzzing from the grip. I have a nice Onkyo receiver hooked up to them, and they will rock if you turn them up!

Pretty Good
For the price you can't go wrong. After ready other reviews I expected a little more bass, especially out of an 8" speaker, but they are great for surround sound.

Another fantastic Acoustech speaker...
Put four in the ceiling for Dolby Atmos. They match perfectly with my other Acoustech speakers. One of very few ceiling speakers that can handle more than a 50 watt load. Very well made with actually usable instructions by someone who took the time to write a thoughtful manual. The whole Acoustech speaker line is truly amazing-regardless of price. And I have owned some very expensive speakers in my day. I paid like $60 a piece for these here on Amazon-AMAZING! Two of them replaced two JBL ceiling speakers (that could supposedly handle 150 watts) I paid $500 each for that blew out the tweeters within 6 months. I know that won't happen with these since their the same tweeters I have in my other speakers that I've had for a couple years now. The grills aren't magnetic, but they pop on real easy with a couple taps. You can't go wrong with these...
