I refinish/upcycle old solid wood furniture as a hobby/side gig. My last orbital sander (different brand) finally quit on me after about 10 good years and that particular brand is apparently no longer in business so I started looking for a replacement. I did my research & read lots of reviews before settling on this dewalt orbital sander and after solid a week of daily use, I’m very impressed & pleased with its performance thus far. It sands smooth and steady, and the dust collector does a way better job than my last machine but I’m still going to order the shop vac attachment for it which I’m excited about since my old sander didn’t have that option. I also really appreciate the storage bag that came with it. I wasn’t aware it was included so that was a nice surprise.

Excellent budget sander! It's very nice to never worry about batteries. Lack of variable speed isn't too big of a deal here. It's not a tool designed for detail work anyways. It does its job very well. Just make sure to use it properly. Don't grind it into the wood; don't sit in one spot for too long. That's how some people melt their velcro. I've treated mine right for years and it still works flawlessly. The only difficulty I had was with dust collection. The tiny bag isn't enough for most jobs, so I connect it to my shop-vac. But the plastic end isn't sized with standard tubes in mind, so it doesn't fit perfectly. Even so, it stays on well enough for my needs. I have an aftermarket tube that clamps pretty hard.

I’ve been using this DeWalt 5-inch orbital sander on a car restoration project, and it’s been holding up well so far. It runs smooth, removes material evenly, and feels solid in the hand. I know I could’ve gone with a more expensive option, but for the price, this one does exactly what I need. Since I’m not sure how often I’ll use it after this project, I’m happy with the value and performance. A good choice for DIY or occasional use.

Well designed. Had been slogging through finishing projects, and this sander restored hope. Pick the right grit, and hog through material as needed or dial it down to a brilliant luster.

This is a game changer for me. Hook and loop makes changing sand paper grits a sanp. I dont have a dust collecting system and this does a great job collecting dust. Just one reget - should have bought it years ago.
