Retinol 1.0 Complex, 1 Fl Oz

I started using the SkinMedica Retinol Complex 0.5 Feb 5th of this year. On June 5th, after 4 months of use I upped it to the 1.0 strength because I felt like my skin was good enough and prepared enough for a stronger retinol. . I went through a slight, but not bad, peeling stage with a little redness, with the 1.0 because I think my skin was pretty used to the retinol after using a weaker strength for 4 months.. (The first 2 months with the 0.5 was awful.. My skin was super red, super flaky and super sensitive.. Even to wash it with Cervae face wash, which is super gentle, even hurt it).. The peeling and redness lasted about 2 weeks with the 1.0 vs 2 months with the 0.5 and now my skin is wonderful! It looked really good after the 4 months using the 0.5, but after 6 weeks of the 1.0 it looks even better.. It's much smoother and super even toned. The few sun spots that I have have faded tremendously and I can feel a lift in my face and a tightening in my skin. It's definitely worth the ugly stage that retinol causes, to get to this stage.. For me that is.. The only down side, if this is even a down side, is it didn't help make my pores smaller which I had hoped for, but with the right primer and foundation it can hide them.. Especially now with super smooth skin. I recommend this for everyone to help with aging and prevent aging and I am so glad I started using it!

I can't say enough about this product. When it comes to skin care price is not the biggest factor as long as the product genuinely works and let me tell you, this product WORKS!!! IT WORKS!!! Please be careful with this retinol if u decide to go for the 1.0 strength cuz u don't have sensitive skin because u WILL burn n peel off this stuff. I made the mistake and did this treatment two nights in a row and oh boy!!! I couldn't treat my face again for 2 weeks!! It literally felt like I got a chemical peel 💯. I tell u what tho my skin is beaming and tight, lifted, pores shrunk and fine lines gone. Even my hard creases in my forhead relaxed sum and that's all off one treatment. I may get a weaker strength so I can use it more often. Forget about any other retinol buy this!!

I’ve been using the 0.5 retinol of this brand for a few months and thought I should upgrade to the 1%. With the 1% I experienced burning around my neck and mouth that lasted 24hrs after applying. Then, I experienced peeling 3 days after application for at least a week. At first I thought I was having an eczema flair up until I realized it was the retinol. During the peeling stage I made sure to use a gentle facial cleanser, cold water, and apply creams for eczema. After the peeling faze, I had a reduction of my hyperpigmentation from acne and my skin over all looks brighter and fresh. I was using it twice a week, but I’m probably going to drop back to the 0.5 for a while. Tl;dr if you have sensitive skin your face will definitely burn and peel. Make sure to moisturize, apply that sunblock, and avoid any irritants (dust, pet hair, perfumes, makeup, ect) during the peeling faze.

I have purchased this product both in my dermatologist's office and a few times here on Amazon, and *every* time it has been the same excellent product. Just research the sellers before choosing one to buy from. When you start using this, you will see that your skin peels a bit, revealing new, plump, smooth skin. The 1% is a high concentration, and if you have very sensitive skin (I do not), you might want to start with the .25 or .5% concentrations, to ease your skin into it. My fine lines and crows feet smoothed out, my skin is plump, and glowing. I especially like the consistency of this product - it is an emulsion that absorbs nicely into your skin, leaving absolutely no greasy residue. So it does NOT have that slimey feel of serums with too much silicone. This product contains no (or very little) silicone. It absorbs quickly, leaving your skin feeling nourished. Use with your regular serums and moisturizers, as retinol itself can be a slightly drying ingredient. Worth every penny, and a bottle last several months. You do not need to apply very much product, so my bottle lasts me 6 months or more, with applying 2-4 times a week at night. If you are looking for the BEST most effective retinol product, this is it! I have tried so many, and none compare to this one!

This is truly an amazing product. I have used prescription Retin-A products and a handful of others and this one has them all beat hands down. It is made by the same company that makes Botox, which for me means something. This transformed my skin in a matter of days. It was extremely astonishing. It must be their delivery system encapsulated with antioxidants. Whatever it is, this stuff works. However much like most of the other reviews on here, this stuff is no joke and is very strong. I can say I had less skin irritation overall with this product over any other similar product I have tried, including prescription products. However I still experienced some redness, extreme dryness, and very little peeling. Like most retinoids, this product will dehydrate your skin like a desert. I found myself layer on moisturizer several times a day and my skin just drank it like water when using this product. So although extremely effective, be prepared to add things to your routine which deeply moisturize your skin. Eventually I moved from daily use to every other day and that seemed to help a lot with the irritation in general and over drying. The over drying isn't a normal skin drying. It makes your skin sort of the text of a porcelain doll..and it looks like one also. So just imagine having to apply moisturizer to a porcelain doll and you can see how this sort of changes your skin and demands constant nourishment. I added a moisturizing face mask, which also made a huge difference although I do not do that regularly.
