Good to have if the power goes out
If the power goes out for a day (or longer) the tv, stereo & internet go out too. To get weather or other info, I knew I needed to get a radio that doesn't need to be plugged in or recharged by other things that need to be plugged in. I previously had a small wind-up radio, but the reception was awful & a whole lot of winding produced very little power. I have a small rechargeable power bank that can be charged with solar power if we get knocked off the grid, but in that situation the solar power bank would be reserved exclusively for charging my cell phone. I didn't buy another portable radio after that one broke (it didn't last very long). Then I saw this one on Amazon & decided it was "cheap" enough to take a chance on. I'm glad I did! I wasn't expecting much from this little radio, so I was really surprised when I heard the clear reception & quite good sound quality. I tried the AM setting (where the talk shows are) & heard clear voices without static or fade out. Then I tried the FM setting to hear what music would sound like coming from such a small radio. It sounded so good, I wanted to hear it with headphones & was amazed at the high quality of the sound. There's no reason to put it away until the power goes out. This radio is good enough for every day use (or if Mom wants to listen to her talk shows while taking a break out in the gazebo). I use the radio with a pair of lightweight, portable JVC headphones purchased on Amazon (JVC White Flat and Foldable Colorful Flats On Ear Headphone with 3.94 foot Gold Plated Phone Slim Plug HAS160W) & a protective & convenient neoprene carry case also purchased on Amazon (kwmobile Neoprene Phone Pouch Size XL - 6.7/6.8" - Universal Cell Sleeve Mobile Bag with Zipper, Wrist Strap - Mint). See the pics.

Good radio, if you can get it on sale.
I purchased it when it was about $9. At that price it's a good value. The regular price ($12) I would be less likely to recommend it. The sound quality is relatively good. Above average transistor radio quality. The quality of FM reception is better than AM. AM has some static, but nothing out of the ordinary. AM reception I would say is above average for this type of radio. Local stations can be tuned in with no problem. I've turned on this radio late at night, and was able to listen into an AM station in a city in Utah, which was about 500 miles from me. In all, it's seems to be a good radio, but I can't vouch for how long it will last, since I haven't owned it for very long.

Great sound
Great sound from such a small radio. Simple controls make this model stand out. And you can't beat the price.

Seems like a good radio
I wanted a small, battery-powered radio like this for emergencies or power outages. I like that it's small, light, fits easily in one hand. It has one speaker and gets loud enough. The telescoping antenna is about 10" long when extended. Runs on two AA batteries which is great because I have access to free batteries this size and I stock up on them. Controls are really basic, but that's great. It's a radio, and that's all I need it to be. It has an analog tuning wheel, volume, and AM/FM/OFF switch. The price is very reasonable. No need to spend more on a name brand radio because this one is a good deal. Update: I had a big storm with near-tornado damage, and was without power for a week. This radio gave me something to do to pass the time when there was nothing else. I still think it's a great radio and I'm tempted to get a second one.

Battery Drain
This was a replacement for the Sony radios I loved so much: the Sony ICF-S10MK2 and the later Sony ICF-P26. Both of those were spectacular and would still run for days on batteries which were down to 1V or even 0.9V. This Benss radio does not receive stations on AM as well as the Sonys did. It is harder to tune. It has circuitry for tuning which seems to lock in on the strongest signal only. I don't like having the switch and tuning and volume knobs on the same side. Biggest complaint is the way it eats through batteries and once they get down to anywhere near 1V it basically quits working. When will Sony resume making quality pocket radios?

Great little radio
I needed to finally replace my very transistor radio. I bought this one with no high expectations but...this little radio works great. Extremely lightweight. And it has amazing sound for a transistor that was so cheap. But certainly worth it. I'd buy it again.

Would have been great!
This would have been a great product if it hadn’t stopped working. Otherwise it was easy to use, portable, and played well. Unfortunately it’s about 10 days past my return date. And FYI I the one I received is only battery operated.
