I Might have a Pioneer crush...
Headphones are beautiful... but most importantly is the sound and owning the Pioneer HDJ-X7 too I see/hear something that just grabs me into the music with these headphones.I'm glad I was able to purchase these headphones when they were being manufactured years ago.

Mediocre and Painful
I wanted to like these. I fell in love with the looks first. The reviews sounded promising a and even though I had not heard much about Pioneer ine the headphone business I decide togive them a try. The first thing I noticed was the cable that was really nice and showed good attention to detail with the attachment mechanism. The sound was ok but not award winning and for me just didn't justify their cost. There was one big issue for me that prevented me from being able to wear them for much more than an hour. They just squeezed my head too hard and gave me a headache everything I wore them. I ended up returning them.

Great club sound, mediocre comfort/fit/design
Let me first start off by saying that I am an electronic dance music producer and DJ so when I heard pioneer has released a pair of headphones specializing in the club electro dance sound, I had to check it out. On top of that, I've recently been in the market for a quality pair of headphones merely for enjoyment not for studio monitoring, producing, or djing but simply for enjoyment and pleasure to the way I like to listen to music which is with high bass, balanced mids and lows, and superior highs. Now, I've always been anti-dre beats headphones. I personally think they have always been overpriced and lack serious sound quality. I think it is just another "brand name" thing for mainstream bandwagon listeners who don't know a thing about true sound quality and detail. I still believe the beats brand represents that, but I recently tried the new remastered/redesigned beats studio wireless and was truly blown away. Like i said I've been in the market for headphones to enjoy my music not for monitoring sound details like in producing for which I use vmodas or audio technica. The reason I bring the beats studio wireless up is because in choosing my headphones for pleasure, it was the beats studio wireless vs these pioneer se mx9s. The final verdict? Beats studio wireless. Let me tell you why.Pioneer SEmx9 (out of 10)Overall sound quality: 8Highs: 6Mids: 9Lows: 8Bass: 7Comfort/Fit: 5/6Beats studio wireless 2014 version (out of 10)Overall sound quality: 9Highs: 8Mids: 7Lows: 8Bass: 9Comfort/fit: 10**added feature/benefit: Bluetooth wireless**Both headphones deliver phenomenal club sound. For some , the Beats may be too much bass but like I said I am reviewing these solely on my enjoyment of this, not in "true" sound quality or recording. When I am producing I need true sound for which beats would be a terrible choice. But when I come out of the studio I want to hear the music As I hear it in the club which is with thump and punchy bass and superior highs. Beats in myOpinion delivers the most iconic club sound you can imagine and I never thought I would say it but with the new beats, that's for sure. Not to mention they are probably the most comfortable well fitted and in place headphones I've ever come across. The pioneers are bulky and won't stay Put on your head. The Beats, I come run with them. I got the beats in matte black which is the sexiest looking design in my opinion. They've truly improved. The previous studio beats were a terrible design and terrible sound as well. These will knock your socks off. Now again, let me just say the beats studio wireless are more expensive than the pioneers so you may get the better bang for your buck with these se mx9s. I still think these pioneers deliver phenomenal club sound as well it's just a few things that puts the beats above in my opinion. Nonetheless don't hesitate on buying these pioneers. Great sound great club mimic but note that they aren't very comfortable and don't sit well on the head.

Perfect
A HUGE step up from my old MX7s. The sound is absolutely perfect and crisp. The bass is really clear and loud. These sound like the Pioneer HDJ-1500s but with a little more bass. Exactly what i was looking for. They are very comfortable and built well. I highly recommend for studio use and DJing and I come from a family that loves music.

Great headphones for great price
Awesome headphones for a great price, the highs, mids and lows all sound great and no sound distortion whatsoever for any genre of music, would definitely reccomend if one doesn't want to go the mainstream beats or sony way for I have purchased both of the brands and to be honest pioneer knocks both outa the park

Disappointed in Pioneer
I don't normally write reviews, in fact this is my first one ever, but I must say I was pretty disappointed. Coming from Pioneer, I did not expect this product to be defective when I received it. I had to return it the day I opened the box because one side of the headphone wasn't working properly. Whether it was an issue with the wire or the actual headphone itself is irrelevant considering it was supposed to be brand new. May it was refurbished or damaged, who knows? It was the first time I actually bought something of this price-scale and it didn't work the way it was supposed to out of the box.As for the headphone itself, I will give some credit to the design and the feel. Very nice craftsmanship, similar to the Beats Studios, which I have owned, but I might feel a little anxious about damaging it. Putting it on a couple times, it's definitely chunky. The swivel movement is a nice feature, but it's just a bit too heavy and big for everyday use. I thought these would be nice for commuting in a busy environment (NYC), but after putting it on, I think I would use it more indoors and on short walks, especially in the summer when its hot and humid out. Soundwise, when the headphone did work at times on both sides clearly, it was very well balanced. Not as overwhelmingly bassy as the Beats, but also nothing that blew me away. Just okay. Personally, for any purchase of $100+ on headphones, I want a clear feeling of satisfaction of sound like "wow that's nice", but this fell a bit flat. The sound wasn't as punchy and responsive as I expected. It was a tad better than the Beats Studios, but I guess that's not saying a whole lot considering those are way overpriced.Once I get my refund, I will be going with the AIAIAI TMA-1. My friend who DJs professionally has them and I've tried them on and it's more what I am looking for, along with it being lighter and smaller for on-the-go use. I thought these would be nicer, but I was wrong. Try your luck if you want, maybe yours will work properly.

Great sound. Uncomfortable for long periods of time
Bulkier than the picture. Not ideal for walking around with. Great sound. Uncomfortable for long periods of time.
