Streamlight 69450 TLR RM 2 Compact, Portable Rail-Mounted LED Tactical Lighting System with Tail Loc, Remote Switch, and 2 Lithium Batteries, Black

I've owned and used many different WML's over the years (Surefire, Inforce, Streamlight, Olight, etc.) and have always found Streamlight to be the best value for an affordable & decently rugged light. One of my previous Streamlights was the original TLR RM2 w/its 1k lumens & 10k candela output. While a great light in its own right (love the trim & low profile design), I found the 10k candela a bit on the weak side for my needs. Enter the new TLR RM2, now with an improved mount and 22k candela. The new mount, while perhaps not quite as easy to attach & detach as the original (you do have to be careful not to strip the new RM2's bolt heads w/the 5/64" hex wrench), is definitely stronger w/a longer rail grabber section and two bolts instead of one. Once firmly attached, it's going to take a very strong kinetic impact to break that mount. Streamlight lists the IPX rating as IPX7, but that's w/o using the remote switch (which lowers it to IPX4, you can't get something for nothing), that's good enough for anything I'm likely to encounter. Pro tip when using the remote switch: When you remove the rubber remote switch port plug to insert the remote switch plug, there's a small gap under the rear of the light over a few picatinny rail sections. If you have excess cable to manage, you can weave the cable in and out of those picatinny rail sections under the gap, to be held in place by the rear of the RM2 when you mount it. Minor complaint: I have no need for the programmable strobe feature, but while experimenting found it very difficult to do the 10 1/4 second switch taps to change the programming. The light body itself appears very strong & durable, usual Streamlight quality. The 1/4 turn lockout feature on the bezel is excellent, and you can change batteries by completely unscrewing the bezel w/o removing the light from the firearm. I did a side-by-side comparison w/an Olight PL Turbo (800 lumens, 66k candela), both in my garage and at the range. Inside the garage it's obvious how much more peripheral spill the Streamlight has over the Olight which translates into better situational awareness (both lights aimed at the furnace on the left, notice the difference in spill on the right). At the range, the Olight has the advantage at distance, but again the advantage of the Streamlight's wider/stronger peripheral spill is obvious. Both lights are aimed at the 100yd target w/the 50yd target slightly to the right and the 200yd target in the distance. Even with only 1/3 the Olight's candela, the Streamlight looks to be good to at least 100yds (note: range pics taken on different days, the Streamlight pic was taken shortly after raining so there's moisture haze visible in the photo). The more I use the RM2, the more impressed I am by the great combination of features and performance. My only question at the moment is whether or not it's safe to use 16650 rechargeable batteries in the RM2. Others have tried it and say it's safe but Streamlight told me 'no rechargeable batteries of any kind' in the RM2. Regardless, I give the RM2 a full 5 stars, another hit out of the park for Streamlight! ETA: Did another night shoot, biggest takeaway was the difference in effective spill at distance. Two target stands appx 25' apart at 100yds. With the Olight focused on one stand, the other was not visible despite being in the Olight's spill zone. With the Streamlight TLR RM2 focused on one stand, the other was dim but clearly visible. As someone else has stated, "I *want* candela for distance, but I *need* sufficient spill for situational awareness."

Great Weapon light, works very well and easy to mount, it also has the dual mounting screws which is really great as some models only have one. I would get it with the pressure switch also. One other really great feature is that the lens can be turned to disconnect from the batteries, which is awesome! Because most lights have a Parasitic drain that runs the batteries down when you are not using it. So here, just a turn disconnects when you have it stored and a quick turn connects you and your good to go with out having to worry if you light is going to work. Note to manufacture, there's great invention called a diode, that you can add to your design at the right point (either on PCB or inside your IC) depending on your design, that will get ride of the parasitic drain.

I have two of these now. Reliable and bright. Low profile. They are low enough to see over through my medium riser optics. Easy operation. Easy battery changes.

I'm retired military (Airborne, Ranger, SF, etc) and used various weapon lights in the military to include testing a number of Surefire rifle lights. Surefire are top notch, but they cost as much as the weapon, which is ludicrous. I have a TLR 1 HL on two of my Glock 34s and I think they are excellent and are a great bank for the buck. I just purchased the TLR RM2 for an AR platform and I really like it. The light is extremely bright and distance outside and inside for CQB. The mounting system for the switch pad is great as it connects to your picatinny rail and the mount has notches on the underside for cable management. I'm running mine at the 12 o'clock position currently and its great. I'll be ordering one more in the near future for another AR platform.

It's great if you want to keep your PDW setup as flat as possible and mount it at 12 o' clock. That being said it is not suitable for GPR as it is lacking candela, I really wish the beam was a bit tighter.

I mounted this on my AiRsoft that is a little bigger than 8 but not quite 10, and the barrel for the pellets is on the short side. It is mounted on top, so everything printed looks upside down. Not a big deal, still gets the job done. The amount of light is a good compromise between compact size and "just enough" light. Of course the amount of light needed is based on use case. If your main usage is outside, you likely want something brighter, but that means larger (at least in 2021). Indoors, it's up for debate how much is enough or too much. IMO this hits a sweet spot. I specifically wanted something that did not require the extra wired button that would be too cramped on a short rail. Mounted on top of the rail, my hand position is perfect for my middle finger to "flick" this on and off or to hold it on momentarily, without loosing grip. The more narrow buttons with the almost 90 degree bend at the end work great for this method. Nice that is has 2 button choices. I mounted this as far forward as possible to reduce shadowing, with my MBUS Pro behind this. It works out well enough for backup. I use a Holosun 510 for main sighting, with a small riser, and the lamp body can just barely be seen through it. Again, a small compromise that I believe to be negligible.
