Futhark: A Handbook of Rune Magic, New Edition (Weiser Classics Series)

Very interesting and detailed book about runes. This was recommended to me on a forum and I found the information helpful.

I read "Futhark" for the first time (I still regularly refer to it) around 1986, having previously read and immediately rejected the 'New Age', unscholarly nonsense of Blum et al. "Futhark" remains the best available introduction to Rune magic. While one should read from many sources (including other works by the same author), this work holds the kernel of all the techniques one needs to follow and practice the path of Rune Work. Much has been written concerning Thorsson's/Flower's adherence to other cults and it must be admitted that this led to schism between the author and the Odinic Rite. Personally, I believe that what Edred gets up to elsewhere is his affair. Technically speaking, this book is still the best introduction. If you are seriously interested in the runes, read it.

I love this book. Its nicely set out and easy to read, very informative and worth the money. Delivery was quick.

Interesting book. It has a mixture of history and speculation (some of which is muddled together), so some care is needed when reading it. The more magical aspects of runes are very well explained, although the author concentrates on the Elder Futhark whereas many others use the Anglo-Saxon Futhark. But, good, and worth having.

I would recommend this book as one of the first 'textbooks' for anyone interested in rune magick. I always suggest it to beginners. It explains the history, the process of using runes for magick and divination and also gives some interesting insight into the Norse culture as whole. It's a good book to start your spiritual runic journey with.

Great book by edred i have all of them.Includes instuctions of meditations and Galdr this book is very closely related to Guido von Lists,Secrets of the runes.

Eben though, Mr. Thorson belongs to the new age, his work on runes goes deep And it works. Plus everything Is arranged in order Simple enough to get in for everybody.

A brilliant book, I can recommend.

A great book for those who seek information about the runes; specially for begginers

I bought this as an alternate for Blum's book, and will probably use it as my main book now. The book contains much more information than strict rune interpretations, but I haven't delved into that yet, and may not ever get to that. For me, the descriptions of the rune meanings adheres to their ancient or original meaning, and I was so pleased to read the particular sounds associated with each one (aside from the pronunciation) as well as what can only be described as asanas specific to each. Very cool.

This arrived in 2 DAYS! And I ordered it on a Sunday! That's very fast for where I live in the world! Looking forward to reading it
