Fast, Stable, and Reliable Upgrade for Older Systems
Fast, Stable, and Reliable Upgrade for Older Systems I picked up the Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB kit (2x8GB DDR3-1600) to breathe new life into an older desktop, and it has done exactly that. Installation was as simple as snapping the modules into the DIMM slots—no adjustments needed in BIOS, as the system recognized the full 1600 MHz speed right away. Performance-wise, the difference is noticeable. Everyday tasks run smoother, and heavier applications that once struggled with 8GB now feel much more responsive. For gaming, it provides a stable boost, especially in titles that tend to be memory-hungry. Multitasking is also much easier, with far fewer slowdowns when running multiple browser tabs, streaming, and background apps. A big plus is that the sticks run cool and stable at the rated 1.5V. No crashes, no hiccups, just consistent performance. While DDR3 is an older standard now, this kit offers excellent value for those still running compatible systems and not ready to make the leap to DDR4 or DDR5. Bottom line: If you’ve got an older desktop and want an affordable, reliable upgrade, this Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB kit is a fantastic choice that delivers solid performance and stability.

Correct speed in BIOS, Memtest reported no errors after 24hr pass, Windows 10 Preview is MUCH snappier now.
The only two brands I trust for my SSD's are Intel and Crucial, mainly used Corsair RAM in my main builds...but my next build may be getting a crucial kit after being impressed by this package. Worked out of the box with an unidentical stick of 4GB Patriot Intel Extreme Masters RAM with same timings. Using in my HTPC with AMD FX 8350 and MSI 970A-G46 w/8GB RAM with 2x Radeon 6850 in Crossfire (I know, dinosaur GPU.) Packaging was a tease (2xDIMM retail package with just the one stick) but was clearly labeled 4GB and fully sealed. The heat shield is a nice aesthetic touch in my Cooler Master HAF-XB EVO while chilling (literally) under a CM Hyper 212 cooler, no fitment issues (for those who have large coolers). I got lucky and the blue of the Patriot stick and the Black/Silver of the Crucial stick compliment my build fairly well. I run Steam in-home streaming, Plex Windows Server, Kodi, torrent clients, and a few Linux VM's simultaneously off of a Crucial M500 240GB SSD and the 8350 can really stretch its legs in this build. BIOS reported correct speed upon install, I'm a bit tired of seeing reviews that cry foul about the RAM being faulty when it loads up as 1333mhz or so. Ever consider that it's your motherboard, not the RAM, that is causing you such injustice? TL;DR Fast, cheap, reliable. Like a used Miata.

Doesn't RAM stand for Really Awesome Memory (Card)?
I built my first PC about a year and a half ago, and this is the RAM I decided to go with (because I had a low budget). I bought one 8 gig stick with the expectation that if I felt I needed it I would order more. Lately, I've been hosting a few servers off of my computer and my small amount of RAM didn't seem to do the trick. I ended up buying 16 gigabytes worth of RAM, just because it was so affordable. I would like to start by saying that the RAM itself works well! A lot of my stuff does seem to be functioning significantly faster, although I do think I would order one more stick, just so that I could have the full 32 gigabytes experience. I plugged my new RAM into the correct RAM (or at least I hope they were the correct ones) and my computer booted as it normally would and under system properties it did acknowledge the new RAM. The one issue I see to be having right now is my computer getting hotter than I am used to. My computer has a LED indicator that woks as a thermometer when it isn't screaming at me to fix some debug code. I cannot say for sure whether this is something that others have ran into, but I have noticed that when I enter an application that requires the extra RAM, my CPU heat seems to spike up about 15 degrees Celsius. I'm not too concerned about it, as my computer still hasn't passed 55 degrees Celsius.

Simple Necesssary Device for Heavier Duty Computer Operation
This is a pretty simple looking device, no moving parts, but we know that it is a sophisticated device that enables your computer to process heavier programs and do it faster. I am using 4 of these on a multiple boot computer, 8 Operating Systems, total. 2 Win 8 - 32 bit, 2 Win 8 64 bit........ 2 Win 7 32 and 2 Win 7 - 64 bit. I am doing this to experiment as to what works best and also because I am into Flight Simming and some software works on Win 7 and it does not work on Win 8. Some works on 32 bit and not on 64 bit......Some works on FSX Sp2 or Acceleration Pack and some does not. There are other reasons why and I found that I could resolve most of the problems with multiple OS. Now, this gets involved, but it works. Others might try that or not want to try it. I have also found that Win 7 is better for FSX and expecially, FS 2004. FS 2004 will work on Win 8 32 bit but not on 64 bit. Landing lights do not all work on FSX Sp2 or Acceleration Pack, but they work on regular FSX Sp1. I have tried many of the recommended solutions for the various issues. Some worked, some did not. The multiple boot system is involved, but it works......Getting back to these Memory sticks, they are solid, they mount right in nicely and the computer recognizes them right away and hopefully, it will help in 64 bit OS's to stop the FSX program from running out of memory as it tends to do in 32 bit. These do not help in a 32 bit operating system because the most the computer can use is 4GB, so don't expect any performance increase there, but in 64 it does make a difference. This was also the best price I could find. Hope that helps...........SHALOM............Brother Randahl

Dell Optiplex 390 - Works GREAT!! **EDIT**
When I was looking at the memory on the site, I was trying to figure out for sure if it would work in a Dell Optiplex 390. All the specs seemed to match up of the memory I needed, but I couldn't find confirmation from anyone. I went ahead and bought the memory hoping it would work.... and IT DID!!!! It works great in a Optiplex 390. I bought the 2x4 8GB kit. All the model numbers were for the non ballistix cruial memory but I was really happy to find that this memory will work in the 390. It was a huge upgrade over the stock 4GB of slow ram that was in the computer. Just wanted to share this information in hopes it will help others. This memory should also work in the Optiplex 3010s as well, probably most "I Series" processors in the optiplex line of computer. I couldn't be happier with the Ram, product arrived on time in perfect condition. *UPDATE 4-20-15* I just got my last 4gb stick to finish out my 16gb on my current build. The first bit of this memory I purchased was for a dell I upgraded and it worked great. Since then I built a new machine and transferred the memory to that. I am currently running 16GB of this ram in my gaming computer, the ram is OC just a bit and the timings run great. This memory is awesome, have had no issue whatsoever.

Great Value
I ended up buying two sets of this RAM to get a total of 16 GB across 4 sticks. I have not had any issues using this kit. and at the time when I bought it it provided a great price for the amount of RAM its performance and reliability. Overall, a great set of DD3.

Works great on Dell Optiplex 980 MT Core i5-660 made 03/2011! You can use the 16 GB kit with no problems! 2-rank, or 2Rx8
Everybody needing to replace or wanting to upgrade the RAM on the Dell Optiplex 980 knows that they have issues taking the full 16 GB Dell says it's capable of using, and some people have reported that some brands don't even work even when they should, and that Dells sometimes only like certain brands of memory, and even which ones they like can be inconsistent. But Crucial seems to be one of the top, possibly the best, RAM manufacturer, and they did a great job with this application. Crucial has a good reputation, and they very well may be worth their higher prices. For some reason, Crucial's own site doesn't indicate the 16 GB (4x4GB) kit for the Optiplex 980, but they do list the 8 GB (2x4B) kit, even though they know it's supposed to be able to handle 16 GB. This worried me a bit, but it also made my curious. So I decided to order the 16 GB (4x4GB) kit and see if it works. And it works great! My computer is able to recognize all 16 GB, and it runs good with no problems. The Optiplex 980, and possibly others or maybe any Intel Core i3/i5/i7, cannot use 4-rank memory. It MUST be 2-rank or single-rank. Luckily, the Ballistix Sport 4x4GB kit is 2-rank, or 2Rx8. It is also possible for it to vary by build date. My computer was built in early March 2011.
