Disclaimer: we mixed this one with a different orange dye to create a different color! Actually bought this for myself to try but my son ended up using some too lol it smells amazing and was easy to apply! I feel like a little went a long way. I used most of it on my hair, which was dyed pink. I mixed with another color called tangerine dream from a different brand to create a “neon tangerine” vibe and threw it on my pink hair. The results were really good 🥹 the neon peach shines through on its own and my kids said it was “glowing” in the sun lol. It didn’t rinse fully clear but it didn’t stain anything and hasn’t bled at all. Not sure about longevity yet but I’m always switching colors anyway so I appreciate this one for being so vibrant and taking so well to my natural red hair/pre-dyed hair! Including a pic of my hair just before I did the neon peach/tangerine. It was electric paradise pink mixed with a little leftover pink splat 😅

I have been using Lime Crime Unicorn Hair for over 3 years now and it has never disappointed me. The Chocolate Cherry shade is such a beautiful color that looks vibrant and rich right after coloring. The color payoff is excellent and it always leaves my hair looking bold and shiny. I’ve also tried Genie, Sea Witch, and Valentine, and every shade has turned out stunning. One of my favorite things about this dye is the scent. The sugary citrus vanilla fragrance makes the application process so much more enjoyable. It doesn’t smell harsh like other dyes, which matches perfectly with how gentle it is on my hair. After rinsing, my hair always feels soft and conditioned rather than dry or damaged, and I’ve never experienced breakage from using it. The dye is very easy to apply at home, whether with a brush or just gloved hands, and it washes out of my shower without leaving any stains. The color is long-lasting too. I usually go about 2 months before I need to redye, and even then it fades gradually into a softer version of the shade instead of looking patchy. Overall, this is hands-down the best semi-permanent dye I’ve ever used. The colors are vibrant, the scent is amazing, it’s easy to use, and it always leaves my hair in great condition. Absolutely worth the money for the quality and results. If I could rate it higher than 5 stars, I would.

This stuff is so good I ordered 2 more jars of it. I have gray hair, and while I love my grays, I wanted to do something different with it. My hair is short, cut in a faux-hawk style. I started out by washing my hair twice with a strong clarifying shampoo. Dried my hair, then I took handfuls of the dye out of the jar rubbed it in my hair and roots. It took a little more than 3/4 of the jar, with a little left at the bottom to cover my hair. I saved the rest because it's still good for up to 6 months after the jar has been opened. I left it in for 2 hours for max color saturation. Once I rinsed it out the dye with cool water, the color gradient was magical. I had bright pink going on in some parts of my hair where my hair was the whitest, and a dark pink where the darker grays were. It looks so good! Also...the smell of this stuff is amazing!! It said this stuff smells like sugary vanilla, and it's not obnoxious either, a month later, I can still kind of smell it when I get out of the shower, and I love it! The color is still very, very vibrant on my hair, it still looks like I just dyed it yesterday, only with gray roots now because I need a touch-up, which I will be doing very soon.

I am growing the henna out of my gray hair so I can change to doing some color instead. Henna can’t handle any chemical color over it so I’m using the Butterscotch color to fill in for a bit. It matches the henna red really well. My hair is shaved up on side, and shaved about 3” around the back and underside on the other side. It’s also naturally curly so has a lot of texture. The Unicorn Butterscotch color only lasts about a week and it doesn’t coat my gray very well. It’s not fully saturated, but it is enough that the gray underneath isn’t so prominent. I wet my hair every day and use conditioner but only shampoo one a week or so. It does smell really nice and leaves my hair feeling very soft.

I usually use Rockabilly Blue but I've had good results with this brand in the past so I went with it this time. With this color works just like most of them do, the lighter your hair is the brighter it is but no matter what color you start with it does hold well. To get the color on the box your hair will need to be bleached white, otherwise it holds just as well but it gets duller & darker as the hair gets darker. I am predominately a level 8 but some tones are lighter some are darker because my last bleaching went bad and I do have a little gray in with natural brown roots so when I use unnatural colors it gives me an amazing variety of shade variation. I got a range of colors anywhere from bright bright blue like in the picture to a duller darker blue to a bluish overtone over my natural med. brown color that stands out like a blazing blue overcast in indoor lighting or outside. It's deeply pigmented and very comparable with Rockabilly but one big bonus, you get more because the bottle is much bigger so that earned it 5 full stars. My hair is still a work in progress and when it's finished I will be back to post results but so far it's downright amazing & I am very happy with this brand & this color so I decided to stop & order a couple more colors and get a bit more creative. It smells great and I'm happy with the product, the price, and the results. I like to put mine in then wrap it in saran wrap and set overnight & shower it out the next morning. It leave the hair super soft, smelling good and in good overall condition and doing it this way with 1 wash a week it lasts an amazingly long time. When mine arrived it was a bit runny so I suggest stirring it with something plastic before use to thicken it back up. (Sea Witch) Absolutely gorgeous. Full coverage, dark and vibrant. Covered both my dark brown hair and my white highlighted strands. I get TONS of compliments. I haven't seen how it fades yet, but the initial result is even better than I hoped for! I included a picture of my hair in both indoor lighting and diffuse sunlight.

Update 12/1/24: I found a very pretty pink/red permanent hair dye and use that on my roots until about my mid lengths and still have my ends (about 9 inches) purple with Genie. Been doing that for a couple months now. I wanted to try blue for the longest time, too, so I just bought a jar of Mystic on Black Friday. I'm hoping because Lime Crime isn't a permanent color, it will come off my ends without bleach and damaging my ends. We'll see how this works out. (Rated 1 star in my original review. Bumping it up to 3 stars now because it is working for me and no longer come off onto all my clothing, etc.) --------------------------------------------------- Original Review: I have been coloring my hair for many years and entered a purple phase about a year ago. I couldn't find a purple that I really liked, let alone a true violet. So, this was the color I was looking for. The problem? It's a stain. Not a semi-permanent color. Not a permanent color. A stain. What does that mean? It doesn't cover your gray/white hairs like you would expect it to for one thing. After about 2 washes, the color comes off the roots and around the forehead to expose the hair beneath. It also doesn't like to stick to the new virgin root growth either. It is more expensive than the other boxed permanent color I have purchased in stores and I honestly didn't want to buy/try it. My hair dresser used it on another client and it was around Prime Day, so I bought a few jars. Only use about half jar at a time. Good for long lasting if I wanted it to last. Now, have to use a different permanent color purple on the roots and then pull Genie through the rest of my hair. It takes my hair dresser 1 hour to do so, and my hair isn't that long. The gel is that thick and doesn't want to spread onto the length. She tried it on wet hair and it seems to go on a little better. I tried to sit for 2 hours the first time and agreed to try 1 hour under heat. Because it took so long to apply, my tailbone was killing me and I had to give up after 45 minutes. We always use a color lock afterward, but Genie still came off - on my shirt, on my pillowcase, on my sweater and of course, stained my shower floor. We use the lock for about 5 minutes now instead of the recommended 2 and it works a lot better. Stained all of my shirts for that first month as well. As always, try at your own risk, but know what you are getting into. Product really doesn't tell you what it is and your results are dependent upon that information. Not a happy camper and can't wait to move on to my next solid permanent shade. Good luck.
