Great stopping power, no noise

I'm really surprised by some of the negative reviews for the XT/SLX/XTR pads.I have shimano SLX brakes which came with the finned metallic pads. These were good pads but were often quite noisy. When they wore down to about 1mm I decided to replace them as they weren't working well anymore by that point.I first tried some other pads I found on amazon in a 4 pack for cheap (blue, Dymoece Multi-Metallic).I've tried those pads on two different bikes and neither time did they work well. They're super loud and won't grab my rotor until you give them a strong pull which will make a huge squeal noise. I've tried cleaning them and the rotors multiple times, even taking off a few layers of pad with sand paper to ensure no contamination and no luck, every time they squeal and won't stop.I also bought the cheap resin pads made by shimano, G01S and those worked quite well. They were very inexpensive from Jenson USA but they no longer carry them. These won't last as long but they work just fine if you can find them. G02s should be the same thing basically.Lastly, I tried these pads and so far they work just as good if not better than the resin shimano pads and should last a lot longer (time will tell on that). I also think they work just as good as the metallic pads that came with the bike and these are 1/4 the price.I recommend you clean off your rotor before installing new pads. Sometimes the old pads may have gotten oily and left residue on your rotor. You should remove the rotor and clean with brake cleaner. I did this before installing these pads and the results have been great. Also make sure you inspect your caliper and make sure it's not damaged and leaking from your previous brake pads being ridden down to the metal. My son didn't change his pads in time and was riding metal on metal. One of the pistons in the caliper got messed up from being fully extended and pushing metal on metal, leaving the calipers leaking. I didn't realize this until after changing pads and those pads got oil on them and were ruined.

this front/rear set installed ridiculously easy and provide some really fantastic performance

As I started to shop around for some replacement pads for my Avid DB-3's, I found a wide variety of choices and prices. When I found this set of four (front and rear) and read some of the positive reviews, I ordered a set. For less than the cost of one pair of OEM pads, this front/rear set installed ridiculously easy and provide some really fantastic performance. I installed new rotors too, bed them in and found them to be great! Very smooth and predictable performance. No odd noises, no pulsing or whining....just good pads. If they get a season out of them, I'll be MORE than happy. If they tend to wear quickly (this is not a time test review) then for the price, I can replace them without concern....and I'll still be in for less than a set of OEM's.

Must buy to replace TRP SLATE T4!!!! Maybe Sram Guide and XT 4piston too??

Read all of the story....I saw really good reviews for the TRP Slate T4 MTB brakes on YouTube saying they were the best of Shimano and Sram put together. I bought them, bled them twice and then payed a shop $100 to do it all over cause I couldn't them to lock up the wheel. Turns out stock TRP pads are absolute junk.If you have TRP Slate, Sram Guide or possibly Shimano XT 4 piston ( short arm off the pad face) then buy these pads!!! Half the price of name brand and work amazingly well. I almost spent another $300 on new brakes and figured I'd try diff pads as an experiment first. So glad I found these.

Getting some squeal sound from the front wheel with these

Getting some squeal sound from the front wheel with these. Even though I cleaned the rotors with isopropyl alcohol and bedded properly. After the initial bedding they were fairly quiet.Update: on the front wheel I just tried sanding them and the rotor again and cleaned the rotor and re-bedded them. They now still squeal during moderate pressure on the brake lever, but not during light or heavy pressure. Thankfully no squeal from them on my rear wheel.

Lost my brake!!

Worked great at first. They were quiet and stopped well. Unfortunately one of the pads came off of the backing and plate on my last ride leaving me without a rear brake. To add insult to injury, now I have a scored up rear disc when the backing plate went metal to metal with the disc. I would not buy these again. Save your money and your discs and buy a higher quality pad.

Junk for anything more than city riding

If you do any sort of serious mountain biking, do not buy these pads. I thought I'd be okay with a lower end brake pad on my avid db-3 brakeset which has been dead reliable the last three year, so I replaced the pads and bedded them in. First real ride with any sort of steep downhill, my front brake got soft real fast and they smelled real hot. The good brake feel they had never came back, so I'll be going with a name brand pad.

Perfect replacments

Best replacements for genuine Shimano BO1S I've found! Often out if stock since Shimano went with thus universal design these actually perform better than OEMPS: my local bike shop wanted $35 per axle to replace. NO MORE! I would however. recommend using the Parks tool to spread the calipers as it makes replacing much easier. Buy the tool + these pads and still come in much cheaper than the bike shop!!

Decent Grip, Easy Install

Replaced pads on the M315's on my commuter bike/light trail bike. Old pads were howling and had very little grip. New replacements work great. Quick braking kept me from being a hood ornament on a mercedes the other day. So happy with the performance. May not be the most durable but they work well in the varied conditions of my year round commute when I have a feeling metallic pads would be nearly useless below freezing.
