Garbage
So sad that a name like penn makes such garbage rod broke first drop on a vermillion snapper with a 16oz weight. Broke about a foot from the tip and won't do anything about it so paid $100 for a rod I couldn't even use once

Great strength when needed!
Bought this hoping to replace the rentals on bottom fishing charters. This rod was more than sufficient for the task! The strength and sensitivity were right on point!

Bought the pole and put the PENN fathom star reel.Amazing strength! Feels good in hand. Best rod I've used by far! I use to buy abu Garcia product but they kept breaking. Switched over to PENN not a single reel or rod has broken!"Got snagged at the bottom pulled up a tire I would say maybe 30 pounds full of mud and water!"

Delivered with tip guide broken
Probably happened in shipping, but the box wasn't damaged at all. Would expect a medium heavy fishing rod , not to mention a Penn, to boccurrence. It's going to be fighting large fish. The ceramic or carbon (not sure what it's made of) guide liner was popped out. It was the rod tip guide. I want to use it this weekend so returning it is a no go. I used uv resin to reattach it. Hope that works. I love Penn gear and hope this is just a freak occurance. I have over a dozen of their products. Won't let this scare me away, but had to give an honest review. Otherwise the rest of the rod is a beast. Can't wait to use it.
