Didn’t work for me
The new design has a hole in the top to compensate for the vacuum when trying to drink. The hole is sealed when the mount piece is pressed down in the closed locked position. Unfortunately it lets in too much air and makes a weird burbling sound when trying to drink. This causes one to drink small amounts of water and large amounts of air. We all know it’s not ideal to “drink” lots of air as it has the unfortunate result of one then needing to expel said air from ones mouth making a “burping” nose afterward, which I personally don’t need in my life! I adjusted the straw and mouth piece many times before deciding this lid design wasn’t for me. The straw also imparted a plastic taste to the water even after being washed.

unusable
I purchased this lid as a replacement top to my original top which worked well, but broke after my husband accidentally knocked my bottle off our coffee table. I cannot get any liquid to come up out of the straw, except a few drops. there doesn't seem to be a vacuum seal and no suction is being created. I just get a bunch of air. It doesn't seem to be working like a normal straw.

Didn't fit my older Lifefactory 22 oz glass bottle very well
The thead is slightly different so doesn't screw on the bottle very securely. It leaks a little bit. I use it as I have no other options for this bottle and hate to throw it away for lack of a top.

Love this lid! TIP: Don’t forget to slightly loosen the cap while drinking.
I “inherited” this cap from my wife who said that it was very difficult to drink from, because she had to suck so hard. So I decided to try it. What I found is that when trying to suck the water or fluid out, it creates a vacuum in the bottle. This vacuum tends to prevent the liquid from exiting.HOWEVER, I found that if I just “cracked” open the cap only slightly, it became VERY EASY to drink out of. After drinking, I retighten the lid. Problem solved! I really like this style of cap. Much better than the other designs!

It is very hard to drink from
You really have to suck hard to get a little amount of water. If you're really thirsty, your mouth will hurt after trying to get a decent amount of water out. I was hoping it would compare to the Contigo lid/straws.. but it's nowhere close, in the sense of ease.

Better than before, but still doesn't work great.
Knew there were still issues, but I needed a new one... Want the straw for kids, but this version still doesn't get it done. It gets off "track" and when you take a drink you get nothing. I have to push the straw off to the right side after opening it to make it work properly, then it works great, until it gets off track again. So, better than nothing, the previous straw lid just stopped working altogether.

Not a great design
We LOVE life factory water bottles, but these are not effective and not worth it. Buy the sport cap or the twist instead and put your own straw in the bottle. We own two and one worst 50% of the time and the other has never worked right.

Doesn’t line up correctly
Bought this cap for my 7yo and he gets frustrated with it. It doesn’t line up correctly and you have to push it over a little to get it to work correctly. Not a big deal for me but it’s a little difficult for him to get it aligned.
