This is a must have if you spend anytime outside and live somewhere with a mosquito problem. Bug sprays and candles never worked for my family so using our back porch during the summer was always a nightmare with mosquitos. We decided to give this a shot and I was beyond impressed. Follow the instructions, it definitely needs about 10-15 min really make a difference, but we went from being completely swarmed to zero mosquitoes. We purchased a few other Thermocell products to set up a perimeter around our wooded backyard and are still amazed at how well these products work. Worth every penney!

I have this one and the handheld one and I think they work great! You DO have to wait 15 after the thing is on to get results tho. My yard is has mosquitoes terribly due to it being so wet year round and I've tried bracelets, tiki torches (multiple) candles, etc.but doesn't compare to this. I mean there's obviously still going to be a few who it doesn't affect, but I will litterly have Luke 10 on my legs then within 10 minutes or so I have none on me and don't til I turn it off to go inside. It doesn't give off a scent and you just turn the knob and are good to go. Lasts me a long time for each blue thing because I don't stay outside for the full 4 hours straight.

This works so well. It really keeps mosquitoes at bay even here in south GA. BUT,The only thing is, I wish thermacell would put out is a version of this with auto shut off after a few hours! If we are hanging out with friends on the patio I forget to shut it off and waste a good amount of fuel.. Of course the company may hope that people forget so we have to buy more fuel but this only has me looking for something else to take its place. Please help Thermacell.. I know should just remember to cut it off but I'm sure I'm not the only one this happens to. Also I realize there is a 5 hour rechargeable one with different repellant inserts that would probably work but I already have all these repellant pads for this version to use up!

This is one of two things that I've found that actually works. My husband was skeptical and even he was impressed after sitting out on our deck for hours with this on and not getting bit. I've even told other friends who purchased this and have had great results. One friend has been using the lantern version of this for camping and loves it as well. I will gladly pay for the refills if it means I can enjoy sitting outside without being eaten alive. HIGHLY recommend!

I gave this three stars because the butane refills are SO SMALL and I don’t think they really even last the full 12 hours. However, IT WORKS. I have a pond in our backyard and live in mosquito haven, aka Dallas, this actually will work to ward off mosquitoes. Don’t wait until the mat turns fully white, once you begin to see those white circles appear you’ll want to change it out if you live near aggressive mosquitoes. Even deet bug spray wasn’t keeping the mosquitoes off of us so it was time to try other products. If you spend a great deal of time outdoors, then you may want to consider another product. I’m actually not planning to use this product anymore, I’m switching to the rechargeable electric thermacell to see how that works out. Another con to this product is how much plastic waste comes along with it. The butane refills alone are a big plastic item that will frequently be tossed. The pro to the electric version is you only need to repellent refills and not butane.

I spend more in fuel and mosquito cartridges on this that I do my fire pit 20gallon gas tanks!!! I don't believe the ratings on this product as it runs out of fuel so fast and smells so horrored that you cant use for long. And talk about a waste, these fuel cartridges are non refillable what a waste! If you see the brass and plastic and o-rings used in every one of these tiny cartridges it's an environmental buster too!! Throwing these away after a few hours used it was totally irresponsible they should have made these refillable with a standard butane refill. The cost of these refills and repellent sticks are so expensive they could have given the product away for free.. the cost of the fuel and the mosquitoes Strips far outway that cost of the unit.. don't buy! Thermocell you need to rethink the design on this. It appears you want to get rich off the cartridges and the repellent strips..

I am “that person”. The one to whom the mosquitoes swarm and devour while nobody else is bothered. The one who gets giant red welts with every bite. Whyyyy???I could not go outside during the summer. No sitting on the deck with a cold drink on a warm evening. Nothing.Until now.I turn this baby on, and for whatever magical reason, what would normally be dozens of bites within minutes is…zero. Not one bite. A fluke on one lucky evening? Nope, many, many times now.If you’re on the fence about ordering this, just DO IT.

This magical device has allowed me to enjoy the beautiful outdoors again. I am literally a walking mosquito bite once Spring has sprung ... they.get.me.everywhere.on.my.body. There is really no scent to this... although if you stick your face right over it you may smell a little repellant odor. There is a pad in the top that is heated from below with a Butane cell. Easy to use. I leave it on my patio table when I am outside and it works great. If you are *that person* who is always getting bit, I highly recommend this unit.
