I purchased these because I am a high school math teacher and taught a lesson in precalculus with these. They are strong, durable, and legitimate slinkies for a decent price. I have a feeling this will last me several years before I have to replace them (if that ever even happens). It's great to conceptualize mathematics and calculus with physics in spring/force problems which come up aaaaall the time. Plus, slinkies make everyone happy. The tactile things you can accomplish are just so satisfying. Happy with the purchase.

We purchased these Slinkys to keep squirrels away from our bird feeders. Time will tell if it works. We have ALWAYS loved the Slinky since we were children a 1000 years ago! Before we EVER installed them outside to deter our bushy-tailed friends, my husband and I giggled and laughed as we played with them again. What a simple toy and a great gift for kids and adults alike...BTW...The price was good too!

Announcing a new use for SLINKY THE ORIGINAL BRAND METAL 3 PACK.....SQUIRREL DETERRENTS!!!!!!!! No kidding! In the south (and elsewhere in America, we like to feed the birds! We put up our shepherd's hooks, fill our feeders and wait for our feathered friends to entertain us as they obtain nourishment for themselves, their babies and occasionally their mates (see "Cardinal Kiss"). However, we are also blessed to have other creatures, furry little rat-like creatures, who mistakenly believe that our efforts are for them instead. I am talking about squirrels, once thought to be cute little fluffy critters until I learned that they are actually rodents. Quite entertaining, I admit, but destructive and greedy. Squirrel baffles, those half domed metal contraptions, don't work. "Greasing the pole", a typical southern remedy that can produce much hilarity, is only temporary and requires repeated, daily applications. Then, someone suggested trying a metal Slinky! Works like a charm! This is definitely an idea for Research and Design for new product development in Lawn and Garden. You can send the Royalties to me!

I bought these for the same purpose a lot of other folks here have: to keep the squirrels from getting up the poles to our bird feeders. We have three poles, so the 3-pack was perfect. Unfortunately, at least one squirrel seems to have figured out how to get up despite the Slinkys. But that's better than the four or five squirrels we had before, and even the one seems to be flummoxed some of the time. So one star off for not being the perfect solution.I have not really tried to use the Slinkys for their original purpose, namely as a toy. I did try once, but it didn't seem to work as well as the one I had as a kid, as others here have also noticed.

Bring back the simple fun of yesteryear, or introduce a new generation to the SLINKY! Everyone should have a slinky. These remind the older generation of a simple childhood, and introduce the young to a non-electronic way to pass the time. Great 3 pack lets you share the fun. Slinky is on the smaller side, so great for young hands (or older ones that don't work too well). So go ahead and order, find some stairs, and have some fun!

Fun for a few minutes. As slinkys go, the metal bends easily and then is not usable.It is not large enough to go down stairs.

My 6 yo daughter loves it. We have had several plastic slinkys in the past that would barely last a day. This metal one lasted a week! Now that's not to say it isn't durable. It is, but when a 6 yo attempts to use it as a jump rope, then it's not going to last but so long. The metal version also just work better than the plastic versions. It brought back fond memories of my childhood. The 3-pack works great. By a couple as gifts and keep one for yourself!
