First of all, I am so pleased this is finally available over the counter. My options were limited before, the long-acting omeprazole made me so nauseous that I couldn't even complete the 7-day course. Now I take Nexium every day for esophageal ulcers which are permanent and make it impossible to eat anything at all without medication because of the unbearable pain. Before Nexium was OTC I just relied on famotidine and ranitidine every four hours. Having to take these pills so frequently was annoying, and if I missed one on accident, the pain came right back with a vengeance. They also didn't work all night so I would wake up from the pain. Now I can take one Nexium pill and nearly all the time it keeps all the pain at bay, all day. It is so good I even forget that I have this horrible problem in my esophagus. Sometimes I have to take it twice a day depending on what I eat, or supplement it with a famotidine or ranitidine if I drink any alcohol or eat any food that the Nexium can't battle, although I really try and stay away from triggering foods. It is a lower dose than the prescription, so it is possible you may have to double up if you have a severe condition like mine. The price at the drug stores and grocery stores is ridiculous, everyone is trying to capitalize on the fact that it is finally OTC and so many people take it. It is much cheaper on Amazon, I buy one pack every month and will continue to do so. The pack has 42 pills, but I do take extras sometimes so it is a good month supply with a few pills left as back-up if needed. It is a miracle drug, haven't had any side effects. Would highly recommend, and would suggest buying it here to save major money.

This product works great! I take it at bedtime and it works throughout the following day. Only thing is I used to get the prescription for 40 mg therefore, I have to take two of these since they are 20 mg each but they do work. Also a lot less expensive than the prescription. I take it at 11 PM every night, and it keeps working beyond 11 PM the following night. BUT, start feeling heartburn like six hours past the 24 hours so I make sure I take it the same time every evening even if it’s still working at 11 PM the following night I still take the next. Do not want to be caught with heartburn while at work or somewhere out there so I take it religiously at the same time every evening.

Been using this product for a long time and it really does work. I have tried many other products but this works better for me. The price was great and the delivery was awesome.

There are not many things that happen in life that make me literally stop in my tracks.. it just doesn't happen that often. However last week at the grocery store it happened. I had run in to grab a couple of things really quick and as I was walking out I saw a BIG yellow sign with purple writing.. I just glanced at it for a moment and then it happened. I stopped dead in my tracks, looked back at the sign and couldn't believe what I was reading "NEXIUM24 OTC!" You see, I was diagnosed with GERD 19 years ago. At first I was taking prescription Prilosec which was good. It typically gave enough relief to get through the days and nights... but on occasion I would have to double up the dose to make it through a full day. After I told my doctor about the doubling up (which became more frequent) he switched me to Nexium and my life literally changed. I had full, 24 hour relief for the most part (unless I ate something I knew I shouldn't like citrus or something spicy). A couple years went by and I changed jobs.. and insurance carriers. My new insurance didn't cover Nexium.. not even on a step program. So it was back to Prilosec.. which was adequate.. just not great. My doctors tried some other 'new' treatments like Zantac (terrible for me), Protonix (ok, but not great) and finally Zegrid OTC but of all those options Prilosec worked best.. but it still wasn't full relief. So I have been living on Prilosec all these years... all the time hoping the day would come when I could get Nexium back.. and there it was! Standing in that grocery store last week and looking at the sign "NEXIUM24 OTC!" it finally registered. IT'S HERE! And I quickly walked back to the pharmacy, found the Nexium display, grabbed a box and took it to the pharmacist. "Is there ANY difference between this and the prescription?" - "Aside from the dosage, no!" I grabbed my phone out of my pocket, looked it up on Amazon and ordered it while still standing in the store. (Why I didn't just buy it there? I don't know!) Anyway.. my Nexium24 finally arrived and I could not be happier! In 19 years this is the only medication that has given me what I would call full relief from my GERD. And the price? OMG! Affordable Nexium? This is awesome for somebody like me :)

It is very similar to omeprazole but it works faster and better than omeprazole. I feel relieved after 30min of taking nexium. But at the same time you can’t take it long term.

NEXIUM is an amazing medication. I am not a big proponent of taking drugs, and I would rather find a "natural" approach to health, but when something works, you cannot knock it. I have GERD, and I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air, after aspirating food, and acid, into my lungs. This is a very scary situation, and you know what I mean, if you have ever experienced it. It literally feels like you have Pneumonia. I would also have a nagging cough, especially for a couple of hours after eating. After an Esophageal Endoscopy, my doctor discovered that I had erosion of the Esophagus, but luckily no cancer. My doctor prescribed Nexium to me, and I have never looked back. After 2 years on this medication, the erosion in my Esophagus has healed (actually healed after 6 months), shown by a follow-up Endoscopy. I no longer wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air . I do try to avoid acidic, starchy, and fried foods, and that helps, but nobody is perfect. I still like to have an occasional "treat". I also try not to eat late at night, before going to bed. I did all of this before taking Nexium, and it helped somewhat, but I would still occasionally wake up in the middle of the night, with food, and acid in my lungs. Now that I am on Nexium regularly, I have none of these episodes at night. The relief is amazing. I take Nexium daily. I started out on 40MG, but now take a daily maintenance dose of 20MG, and it works great. The warnings say that there are side effects, mainly brittle bones, but I have not experienced any of those, as of yet. The medication also says to only take it 14 days at a time. My doctor says that is total BS, and is just lawyer speak, to protect the drug companies. He said he has patients that have taken Nexium daily for 10 or 20 years, with no ill effects. Now remember that not all people react the same way to all medications, and what works for some people, may not work for others. You also may, or may not, experience any of the listed side effects. However, if you are experiencing debilitating GERD, I would highly recommend consulting your doctor about Nexium. It could make a huge difference in your life. I know it has in mine, and I would HIGHLY recommend taking Nexium, if it will help your individual situation.
