I was looking for a heater for my shaving mug for a long time.....Tried coffee warmers but no nearly hot enough....This heater in only the size of a coffee warmer but gets very hot if you like..... Control goes up to 5 and I find the 2 is not enough for my shaving soap/water mixture..... Works great

Fantastic little burner!! I wish I would have bought this years ago! We go to Vegas frequently and am sick of spending $$ on coffee downstairs as there are never coffee pots. I love a cup in my room with my bathrobe every morning. I saw Starbucks was closed at Bellagio (covid times...) so I purchased this little awesome burner. It works awesome with our moka pot. Get it!

I wish I had known that the other reviewers were correct: this item does indeed smell like burning rubber when first turned on. The purpose of this review is to help potential buyers chose a product that does what they need it to do for their situation. The photo gives a visual perspective of its actual size when sitting on a letter sized file box. The second photo shows that 3 measuring cups of water boiled in 5 minutes. The pot purchased separately holds 6 measuring cups of water. The pot is stainless steel and has a heavy bottom which made the pot feel stable on the little electric stovetop. This electric mini stovetop does exactly what the description says it does. The photo gives you some perspective on its size when compared to letter sized file box. It’s tiny, but it’s not a toy. • Does this electric mini stovetop hot plate get hot enough to boil water? Yes it does! • What size pot is on top? The pot in the photo is from IKEA. The pot can hold 6 cups of water. The heavy bottom worked well but a thinner bottom might heat faster. • 3 measuring cups of water came to a rolling boil in about 5 minutes on the highest setting. Having a heavy bottom on a saucepan or pot keeps the heat even allowing me to turn down the heat and keep a constant temperature at a specific setting. • Is this electric mini hot plate stovetop capable of cooking a meal? Yes. Use 6 cups or less cookware size. • Is this item versatile? Can it be used for more than boiling water? Yes. It’s the same as the small burner on my gas stovetop. • Can this mini stove top be used to make coffee or espresso? Yes. • Can this small electric stove top be used with a lithium battery? It depends on the battery. I plugged this hot plate into a Rockpals 500watt lithium battery and 5 cups of water simmered but did not have a rolling boil at 12 minutes. The Rockpals had plenty battery power (75 percent) remaining at the end of 12 minutes. • Does this item pull 500 watts? Yes but not the entire time. The hot plate pulled 500 watts of power when first turned on to level 5 heat (the highest) then dropped below 500watts. When turned down to lower levels of heat, the Rockpals showed the watts dropping. If cooking with the 500 watt Rockpals portable lithium battery, bring food to a simmer, place a lid on the food to hold the heat, then drop the temperature control to a lower level to continue cooking. Caution: This item is not a toy. The stovetop heats immediately and so does the metal attached to the stovetop. Common sense is not so common. I was touching the hot plate when I plugged it into electricity and felt the top plate immediately heat uncomfortably hot. I was pleased that the mini hot plate worked with my Rockpals lithium battery. The cooking fan came on the Rockpals which surprised me. Will this electric hot plate work with a generator? If you have a generator, be sure to check the watt capacity because the device will have an initial electrical draw of 500 watts. Is this hot plate versitile? Yes. I recommend this hot plate for an alternative source of boiling and simmering food, crafters, cup warmers, and similar uses. Is this hot plate useful in an emergency? I recommend this hot plate for emergency use. If you are in an emergency situation like I was when the Texas grid failed during the winter of 2021, you want that smell burned off BEFORE you need to use it. Imagine being in a hotel room and that smell escapes all the way to other people’s rooms! Burn off the smell first before storing it or using it. • Is this device a good value? It depends on how badly you need this item. If the product lasts 10 years then it’s a good value to me. Other considerations: • I plan to make a silicone guard sleeve for the metal collar. The plastic bottom felt warm but the metal collar was very hot. • On the lowest setting it makes a nice cup warmer. • Plan to take this mini hot plate on my travels and when car camping. I may use it as a cup warmer for herbal tea but others may like it for coffee. • I would advise to keep away from children as with all hot items. I began cooking full meals at age 10 and taught my children when they were even younger. They were never burned because I taught them safety first. My concern is that some people will see the sIze of the hot plate and underestimate how hot it gets at full power. Children may think it’s a toy. It’s not a toy. • Do the power level dials work? Yes they do. The Rockpals lithium battery showed the power changes at each power level. • Other uses: Sometimes people want to keep something warm at dinner. • Health: I would like to have had this mini hot plate to keep water warm for soaking small cloths for a surgical wound where I alternated warm and cold wash clothes to help heal a surgical wound. For that situation — this little hot plate would have been priceless. • Got stuffy sinuses? In 5 minutes you can have a dedicated vaporizer. • No microwave? This can be a substitute. I purchased this as I was looking for units that have low energy usage. I run my RV completely off of solar and like to maximize usage during the day while I am receiving energy. This did the job, but may be a bit low on heating capacity. It it very small, almost sized for a coffee or tea pot, maybe a very tiny cooking pot. It takes a while to heat water to even a simmer, but will get it there just before boiling. Not sure if it is my setup, but the unit seems to kick on and off instead of staying on constantly. Being fair with the rating due to my situation. Decent unit and does what I need it to do, even if a bit slow.

I was simply amazed at this little thing. Took it camping with me and plugged it into my 1400 watt Predator Generator. Expected it to take 20 min or so to get my stew hot that I had brought along that had been frozen. It took 7 MINUTES!!! to bring my stew to a light boil. I was very pleased with the time frame. This was on high heat, but it operated very fast. My pan was the same size as the burner. I also tested a FULL pan of water to see how long it would take to boil and it took about 12 minutes to bring the full pan of water (maybe 6 cups) to a boil. Would buy again, in fact may to use in the house when I want water faster. Our stove takes longer than this little thing!!!

I'm using this burner with an inverter and RV batteries. It works excellent, as I've only made coffee 2x with it in looking forward to giving a better review in 6mo or 1 yr. It seems well designed, and has 1-5 temp settings. Very nice having off grid coffee in the AM

Absolute horrible product. It smells when you turn it on and even after running it for 10 mins, it didn’t help. It’s a safety liability. DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU LIKE OFFGAS FUMES!

I bought this to use with my Bialetti Moka Express espresso percolator. It is the perfect size and the temperature range is easily adjustable. I just prepare my moka pot, set the temp to 2.5 and let is heat for about 5 minutes. This would be pretty small to cook on, but it's perfect for a little kettle or coffee maker.

I bought this for my Bialetti coffee maker. It is a perfect size for my coffee maker and I can also travel with it which is important for me. Upon first use there is a plastic smell that disappeared after first use. I highly recommend this product and will be buying second one for my parents coffee maker.

Love the burner. Did a exchange because the item got banged around and a bit damaged. Just to receive another damaged box that is worse than the original one i purchased. The burner would be great if it didn't come so iffy and in beat up boxes and looked like it is someones previous purchase. What i liked about the burner is its price, low watts and its compact size. The first one got too hot on max and burned its outter edge. Second one, i only tried it on a 2 and it gave hot heat still. There is a bit of smoke and smell on its first use but like some new products this is normal. Lots of cookware and bakeware require you to heat it first for 10 mins or so to burn off that factory coatings? first one though the smoke was not so normal as the burner burnt. And the second one still had the smoke and yucky smell but the burner didn't burn up. Might be due to only using a 2 instead of 5 setting. It's purpose is for making coffee during blackouts and travel such as camping. The low watts makes this possible. It is a heating element so it does get hot. Which is to be expected. Let it cool down before you touch it to move it because it is a burner/hotplate.
