Highly compressed and took almost 2 weeks to return to stated dimension. Looks like it will work great as a replacement filter for a pump that I can no longer find replacement for.

It arrived flat, in a vacuum-locked package, very surprising! It expanded perfectly in a couple of days just by sitting on my counter. I'm using it around the pump in my outdoor water fountain, to keep the bigger leaves and such away from the pump. I bought the 7.5" x 4.7" x 2.75" and that is exactly what I received. I cut it to fit my pump with an x-acto knife and was easy enough to cut through the thickness. I will be ordering another one as I cut this one incorrectly (I should've measured twice and cut once), but it is exactly what I needed. I installed a simple $10 float and water supply hose to the fountain, so that I don't have to keep refilling it. I put the extra piece around the float to help keep debris away from it.

Bought this to use to fabricate a new foam air filter for my Devilbiss 6.5 HP air compressor. Cut to size and installed just fine with sharp box cutter. Same exact material as the old filter which was beginning to break down and decompose into pieces... Works great... Not what it was intended for but its the same stuff and works just fine. I recommend...

When I first recv'd this item, I was set back when I unwrapped it. I went to my computer to double check, 'did I order the wrong thing'? Nope, it was right. Then I read the included instructions. I rarely read any instructions, its just a sponge. When I did the recomended 'set-up' and added the sponge to the heated water, It expanded like Chinese noodles hitting hot oil. Now it looks like the picture. Being vacuum packed threw me off.

Pricey sponge material.

I needed this, so I got it. It’s pretty big and allowed me to make my own bio filter. I could probably get two more out of this chunk. I think it’s expensive for what it is but what’s the alternative? It did the trick.

It comes about 1/4" thick. Instructions say it takes 24hrs to expand. 72hrs later and still 1/2 as thick as ad says it is. Finally got it wet and stuck it in the microwave and presto, proper size. I get shipping is cheaper squished but if you're in a hurry, this isn't for you.

A great filter and a great price point

Used this for the air filter in the hood below speedometer for a 2003 Gen 2 Polaris snowmobile

Using a weaker canister filter I was worried that this would clog to quickly and restrict flow with my heavily planted tank. I was very impressed and ran into no issues cleaning once a month. Perfect flow rate and ideal as a pre-filter on intakes to protect baby shrimp. Very happy with quality and don't suspect I will need to replace within the next 12 months. Highly recommend.

Haven’t tried it yet as a filter but to start the size is good, just slightly larger being closer to 5”. It arrived flat but after a day it has mostly expanded. By filling the sponge with some hot water from the tap and then letting it sink the remaining bit that seemed a bit deformed expanded pretty quickly. Feels coarse and sponges, not brittle or too soft.
