Easy loading.
I bought this to replace a pernickety take up reel… This reel rolled a film easily…first time.

Perfect
Perfect for a Patterson System 4 developing tank. It's very easy to adjust the size of to accommodate other size film such as 120. The reel is also easy to load and I can now do it blindfolded which is what I think it was designed for.

owesome
You can develope your 35 mm,126mm,127mm,120mm,220mm film.At first it was very though to twist the reel to get it the right film size.It feels like you are going to break the reel but it is very durable and it is made with high quality material. For me is a lot easier to use this than the steel reel.

Bad Paterson reels!
I ordered and received two of these reels on January 12th. I packed them without inspecting them for our annual Florida trip. On January 30th I opened them to develop some film and to my surprise they were both defective as others had mentioned! This is totally unacceptable to have all of these defects slip through to the customer. I have used Paterson products for a number of years but will not be buying anymore of their products.

Bad redesign, miss the old spool
The entrance flanges are significantly reduced in size. So now it's trial and error EVERY time you load film, trying to tell 1. where the entrance gate is, and 2. which side of the ambiguous vestigial nubs you insert on. Removing a VERY important touch-cue from something you use blindly in complete darkness was a huge oversight. Not to mention those flanges probably helped guide the film smoothly into the groove, because now it kinks easily and I had to abort and start over several times. They had it better the first time, so were they trying to save plastic? Not a very good area of the design to remove material from. Still useable, so not one star.

pretty standard film reel
My developing tank came with a bum reel so I got one of these to replace it. It works fine, easy to use just by feel, etc.

Easier to load than traditional steel reels
All the loading reels in total darkness can still be tricky... These are much easier than traditional steel reels.
