What handle will fit it?

Just as the Vikings did, I had to make a handle myself. No handles from hardware stores will fit. Vikings didn't have hardware stores to go to!!!!

What type of metal is it?

Definitely a hard steel. Not sure if it's actually 1095 but it's harder than 1080 that's for sure.

How is the handle fitted? as hawk thru top, or like a hatchet w wedge? Thanks

I sent mine back. I thought the hole was too small for the size of axe head.

Can this be used as a hammer?

Depending on the severity of the situation anything is a hammer
