Buy it.
This easily slipped over the fat end of the shift lever, added spray silicone lubricant and wiped it off after install. Very easy very nice fit and finish.

Looks just as good as an OEM part
My shift lever boot had torn apart years ago and I never got around to replacing, and I didn't really want to have a dealer install ($$$). Looking on Amazon, I settled on the Dorman 47106CD version, as the description indicates it would fit my 2002 Silverado 2500HD. I watched some you-tubes to see what was involved and it didn't look too hard, although I could not get one screw to unthread when removing the steering column cover. Nonetheless, I could spread it enough to remove the old boot. Installing the new one proved to be a pretty good challenge and I worked up a pretty good sweat. I didn't have anything to use as a lubricant to slide the new boot over the shift lever, and I didn't want to try and figure out how to disassemble that. So I slowly worked a little bit at a time to slide the new boot over the shift lever. I was really concerned that I would tear the boot, or it would get too stretched and not have a snug fit, but after an hour or two wrestling it a little bit at a time, I got the boot all the way on. Next challenge was getting the metal base to snap into the steering column cover, but I did and then snapped it into place. The new boot looks just as nice as the original and despite all the stretching, still fit snug with no tears.

Took less than ten minutes to replace
Shift column boot was tore. Put a little silicone grease around inside of boot and it slid right on. Dorman replacement parts are the best. Took less than ten minutes to install

Fits 03 dirtymax
Feels good and fits good. But it ripped the first couple shifts. But it’s better than what had, so I’ll take it. I ended up taking the shifter lever off to install it. Installed on a 2003 dirtymax 2500HD

Read here for the easy way to install
After watching numerous videos, and tearing one of these attempting to install it without the proper lubricant, I will share the easy way to install this part. Some of the videos showed having to take the dash bezel off, the plastic clamshell around the steering column off, and then removing the gearshift lever. Even doing that, will not work if you have a gearshift with the tow haul mode button on the end because you cannot get the wire through the rubber boot without digging into the column and disconnecting the wire. After tearing one of these boots attempting to slip it over the end of the gearshift and using a silicone spray, I decided to use O-ring lubricant. I previously purchased a bottle off of Amazon and it is a silicone based grease which actually helps preserve the rubber boot. First, remove the old rubber boot by tearing the pieces off, and then separate the upper and lower clamshell cover of the steering column by gently prying them apart with a screwdriver or other non-Maring plastic prying device. You will only need to separate The upper and lower pieces about a half inch. The lower piece should be the one that drops down slightly. With the pieces slightly separated, you can now remove the rest of the boot base. Now, apply a semi liberal amount of the silicone O-ring lube to the inside of the gearshift boot. Also, apply several drops to the top of the gearshift lever and smear it around so the entire section is covered particularly towards the end of the lever. Slowly slide the gearshift boot over the end of the gearshift lever. Do not force it and go slowly. Slide the boot the remaining way down the column and then position the gearshift boot base into the slots of the upper and lower Console clamshell. Snap the clamshell pieces back together and position the end of the rubber boot into the groove into the gearshift lever to seat it. Be sure to wipe the residual O-ring lube off your gearshift lever. Perfect fit. Easy install
My Sierra will be 21 years old in November. The shift boot has been torn for 20.5 of those years. When the Tow/Haul switch went out; I disassembled the steering column cover to repair the wires for the switch and decided to replace the boot while everything was disassembled. It arrived from Amazon a day early, it took all of five minutes to attach the boot. Within 15 minutes everything was back together, looking good , and working. The Dorman™ price was around $10 less than other sources, and when you install it correctly, there is no possibility of tearing the piece. Lube gel? Really?

The rubber cracked.
After reading some reviews, common topic was the rubber cracks. I took the risk and indeed the rubber cracked. For The amount of work required to install this thing, not worth it.
