Poland (LONELY PLANET) Review: Recommended for travel to Poland - I spent a month studying at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. This book provided good basic information. Their recommendations were spot on. I relied on it to scout out certain places to visit or dine. Being back home it is still a good reference book to review information about places that I have been to and where I would like to go in the future. It came with a small map of Krakow which is adequate for basic tourism. However, if you are going to really explore a city like Krakow it would be worth it to pick up a good city map with the tram system on it to move about efficiently and inexpensively and also to travel amongst the locals as well. Review: Good reference book - I got this guidebook for a trip to Poznan. At first I didn't find it that useful, partly because there was so much text and no pictures. I find it hard to know what I want to see, if I can't visualize it. But I enjoyed using it as a reference once I was there, looking up sights I'd seen and finding out more history and information. There wasn't a lot of information at the sights in the city, so this was great to use to look up and find out more of the history. I also appreciated the information on what to expect when traveling in Poland. I found that information spot-on and was glad to have read it before.

POLAND, UKRAINE AND MANY OTHERS
I TRAVEL FREQUENTLY ALL OVER THE WORLD AND NEVER WOULD GO WITHOUT THE "LONELY PLANET". IT IS MY BIBLE OF TRAVEL WHICH INFORMS ME ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THAT PARTICULAR COUNTRY, WHERE TO GO AND HOW TO GO. IT NEVER DISAPPOINTED ME AND SAVES ME A LOT OF TIME TO RESEARCH THE AREAS. I USED OTHER BOOKS BUT ALWAYS GET BACK TO THE LONELY PLANET.IT IS JUST THE B E S T . CHRIS EASTRIDGE FROM FLORIDA

Useful Planning Framework - Improved Electronic Navigation
The electronic version of this Lonely Planet Guide appears to be better than that found in other editions that I've purchased. It's still not good. Content provides a useful planning framework. Restaurant and hotel information is all very dated. TripAdvisor is an infinitely better source and free. Lonely Planet's writers need to do a better job of critically rating cities, towns and attractions. The casual reader could easily conclude that 'everything' is absolutely wonderful. Poland is a very interesting country, but some parts are infinitely more interesting than others.

Info good, format was terrible
The formatting of this book was terrible. I wish I had realized sooner, reutrned it and bought it in iBooks for a couple of dollars more. The info was solid and helpful but because the formatting was so bad, we did not refer to it much.

Lonely Planet Rules
After visiting Poland two years ago, I wanted to go again and get outside of the cities and really visit the Polish people. Lonely Planet's guide allows you to do just that. Help with local transport was fantastic and finding little gems and churches to visit was wonderful as well.

This book provided great background for me when I went on a trip to Poland with friends in the summer about three years ago. Although our itinerary had already been researched by someone else, I still found it a useful book for exploring culinary choices and it was handy for recommendations of restaurants in Zakopane where we were staying. Enjoy reading these books before a trip as they give an enticing flavour of a country which gets you excited about going there.
