Beginning Jazz Guitar: The Complete Jazz Guitar Method Review: Excellent book for beginning jazz guitar - This book is amazingly well thought out. It really covers a lot of ground and gives you a solid understanding of the basics of jazz. The six major scales 6/1, 5/1, 6/2, 5/2, 6/4, and 5/4 are very helpful in learning the fretboard. Some of the chords have ridiculous stretches, but overall the majority of chords given are useful and easy to master. The book focuses equally on both chords and single-note playing. There is a lot of theory that is easy to understand and very helpful in learning the jazz music style. I can hardly wait to master the basics and move on to Book Two, but that is going to take at least a year, maybe two. I highly recommend this extremely useful and practical book. It's the best jazz guitar book I have ever seen. Jody Fisher is an accomplished teacher. The Mickey Baker jazz guitar book is also useful, but Jody Fisher's book is much better overall. I am currently working out of both books. I am a very experienced rock guitarist and that really helps. I wouldn't want to be just starting out on guitar and trying to use either of these books. Buy this book and be prepared to work hard and have a ball doing it. Review: Great beginner jazz guitar lessons. - Liked the format. I am learning about jazz guitar.

No CD
This is a complete, logical approach to scales, chords and music concepts. To bad there is no CD to help with the chord and note arrangements. It would have been helpful for a guitarist at my level.

Great book for the burgeoning guitar player
If you're looking to begin playing Jazz guitar, and are already familiar pentatonic scales, open chords and barre chords, this a great book! NOT for the absolute beginner (but then again, neither is playing Jazz).

NO CD/DVD WITH THIS BOOK!
Because music is perceived aurally, being able to hear the examples is most important. The Amazon description of this book mentions accompanying CD, but there is NONE! The following link is to the combo - Beginning...
