National Geographic Kids Everything Rocks and Minerals: Dazzling gems of photos and info that will rock your world Review: Perfect for a young child - I bought this for a friend's 7 year old boy who after visiting quartz mines in New York started becoming interested in rocks. He LOVES this book. It has beautiful photos, vivid colors, and interesting facts. Easy to understand and designed almost like a comic book (little excerpts here and there). I might have to order another copy to keep here for my own kids (and maybe myself...) as they were reading through it before I could wrap it and thought it was really cool. The book is also printed on what feels like very durable and probably washable paper. The cover is paperback but feels very strong. Definitely made for a child's hands to flip through again and again. Review: Informative book on rocks for children - Very good book! Exactly how it was described ..

Great book on Rocks
My ten year old granddaughter loves rocks and collects rocks of every size and description She had a long road trip to summer vacation and this was a perfect book for her. Pleased oh my goodness yes! A perfect Birthday gift along with a great rock specimen. . She was happy and kept sticking her nose in the book as we ate supper... Thanks from her was all a grandmother needs. The pictures are great and it is narrated with ease and style. I have found all of the national geographic books to be excellent teaching tools especially the children s books. it takes the child into the real world of our planet. A child is able to learn quickly about the make up of the rocks and minerals that composes this world they live in.

My 2nd grade daughter loves rocks, and this book
She likes to read this book while we are in the car, as she always grabs it if we are going to be driving more than 20mins. She likes to read it in bed as well. I haven't heard her cite any facts from it, but she also does like the pictures in it a lot. I had hopes she might be able to use it to identify different types of rocks but it's not really that kind of book. It's good though. Many interesting rock facts, articles.

Colorful, Informative Guide
I purchased this as a gift for my grandson and he loves it. It's colorful and packed with information about various rocks. There's interesting facts about many rocks. I would suggest purchasing a rock kit if the child has not begun a nice collection of rocks. I would purchase this item again.

Great Book for Kids - Beautiful Photos
I purchased this book for a second grader who is homeschooling. We used the book in conjunction with Toysmith Toy Science Rock Science Kit. They worked great together.

Great book on rocks
This book has been great at getting my homeschooler more interested in rocks. Small book but more accessible for the younger crowd. Was good for my 9 year old. Some of the info fourth graders are supposed to know. She loved it. Great pictures. I bought it because she loves the National Geographic Kids magazine, and this is set up in a similar format.

Rocks for Children.
This kid's lapidary book served as a wonderful learning experience for our 8 year old visitor from Australia. It seemed to be perfectly suited to his needs, and as a baby sitter, it ensured all went smoothly and happily. The explanations are excellent, the book sturdy and the colors attractive to a child. It worked!

Absolutely brilliant. This was bought to accompany a gemstone advent calendar and is of the usual high NatGeo quality. Stacks of information and great images - plenty to look at and learn. I'd definitely rate this as suitable for 6 and up, it's a magazine quality book and worth the money.

Bought this as a gift for a young boy. My goodness, though, I think I want to read it! I flipped through the pages out of curiosity, and was floored at the amount of information. It's absolutely chock full of awesome tidbits for the kid who has an interest in the world and it's amazing features. So much to learn, and beautiful pictures to illustrate. There's a few simple experiments that can be done. It looks so interesting!
