Measure before you buy, but these are a great upgrade
These are a fantastic upgrade from stock tuners. The universal mounting plate makes installation easy. The locking feature means it takes less than a minute to change a string -- you just pull it through, tighten the gear, and tune it up. It won't even make a full twist around the peg before it's in tune. The tuners also feel high quality and look neat. Some tips before you order: Make sure you are buying the right version of these. The sets are not all the same, especially if you're comparing a 3x3 (think Les Paul headstock) vs. a straight 6 (Stratocaster headstock). Measure the hole size for your tuner, since older guitars use a different size. Also measure the thickness of your headstock because you might need a longer post size. Yeah, these things means you'll have to remove your strings and unscrew the nut on one of your tuners, but it's better to double check before you have to buy and return.

Absolutely perfect. Reliable and easy to install.
I bought these to replace the crappy guyker vintage-style locking tuners that I put on my Harley Benton HB-35 Plus(modeled after a Gibson 335 for y’all who don’t know). This has finally fixed all my tuning issues! They are super reliable and are well machined enough to be able to tune with excellent precision. The plates made it super easy to install and required nothing more than a wrench to tighten the tuners. Now the only thing that I don’t like are the triangular tuning buttons. They really didn’t fit the esthetic of my guitar but since that is simply a matter of preference, I won’t lower my rating. I solved this by removing the green, vintage-style buttons from my guyker tuners that I loved the look of, and drilled some bigger holes in them till they snuggly fit in place of the original hipshot tuning buttons, which were super easy to remove. After some leveraging and pushing and twisting, I got em on and now they look epic and function amazingly. This solved my issue of wanting the vintage look, but with locks. The guyker tuners did it but sucked in quality. This was a great way to get the best of both worlds, and have a more satisfying custom setup as a result. As a bonus, I love the open gear look, it’s just super cool and fun to look at.To sum it up: they are awesome and all I could ask for in a tuner, for a super reasonable price. Hope these treat you well!

Excellent Fit and Function
These tuners are excellent, and easy to install. The only caveat is to pay close attention to the orientation of the back plates. These must be placed according to the instructions in order to lock the tuners in place properly. The tuners are very well designed and make a real difference in ease of restringing and holding tune.

These are AWESOME!
I had heard about hipshot tuners in the past, but never really thought much about getting them. I decided to give them a try, since the tuners that came on my guitar were not that great, so glad that I did. I have locking tuners from other companies, on some of my other guitars, I would rate these right up there with the best of them. These feel lighter than most of the others I have used before, which was great for the acoustic I put them on. There were very easy to install with the included plates, and I have no fear that they will come loose. I have tested them out for a few weeks before leaving this review, and they have definitely been a great upgrade. Rock solid tuning stability, string changes are a breeze, and they are cheaper than most other brand names on the market. I am now looking for more of them for some of my other guitars.

Great tuning machines for Gibson SG!
Gibson doesn't ship the USA SG Modern with locking tuners. Why???The Hipshot mounting plate looks fine! Installation was less than 10 minutes. The Hipshot washers are juuuuuuust barely smaller than the Grovers that came on the SG. It doesn't bother me enough to even worry about it. The open-back look is awesome but the weight savings isn't there. Don't buy them thinking you're going to reduce headstock weight.I wasn't a fan of the Hipshot-style buttons, so I started looking at replacing them with other styles. The Hipshot buttons were going to cost me about $40 with tax and shipping.Turns out, Grover and Hipshot use the same double-D mounting post, so I just put the factory Grover buttons on the Hipshot locking tuning machines and I have everything I need. These are great tuning machines!

Pretty good!
My only complaint is the the post are a bit short when you use the included adapters. The low E string on my Epiphone actually touches the nut (in the tuning head, not the string nut) before the post which probably isn't good.

Super Smooth
Super smooth precise tuning for my slide guitar since i constantly detune between Open C and G tunings. No more wrapping strings around post either so strings stay tuned. Excellent price!

Easy to install and works as intended
Installed it for my acoustic guitar (Yamaha FG700S) to give it a little upgrade. The screw holes didn't match up, but I just had to use the included brackets and installed it without the screws just fine. It was easy to install and works as intended. It's a relatively cheaper option, but it does its job just fine.
