LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS GAME!
I bought this game because the game site that I am a member of...well, I have bought over 200 games from them and for the past year or so, my games are suddenly not working one by one until over a third of them won't open at all. Multiple emails have gone to this site; and they are excellent in responding; they are really trying to help me to get my games going but nothing is working. I was beginning to think it was our computer; so we bought this game from Amazon and it works great. This is one of the first games I had bought from the game site and I loved it but it is one of the games that refuses to open now. So the fact that the Bookworm game we just bought from here is working fine, tells me it is an issue with the game site; and not my computer. They are still trying to help but about a third of my games are just sitting somewhere on my harddrive refusing to work. Now about the game itself....if you have never played this game and love word games....get this one. It actually has three games on it and I am so pleased with all of them...I love all three. If you are one to love adventure games, you will love the Bookworm Adventures....both of them. I have completed the first game several times...when I got it from the game site. This one however, from Amazon, has Bookworm Adventures part TWO on it and I am currently on level 8 and have no losses and 58 wins so far...it is a very challenging game. The words you can come up with are so much fun and unlike the regular Bookworm game, Bookworm Adventures...both of them...the letters do not have to be connected which makes the game really fun and challenging. The original Bookworm game, the letters do have to be connected to one another...but that makes the game super challenging and the highest level I've ever achieved on the original Bookworm...the first game on this cd...is 64. That in itself is nearly impossible to do as the more levels you complete, the more challenging the game gets. Sometimes you will get nothing but vowels or all consonants...and so you will have to "scramble" but the more you scramble...the more "burning tiles" appears....and if one of them reaches the bottom...you must use it in a word the moment it hits the bottom, or else the library gets burned up, and you have to start all over at level one....it can make you cuss, lol. Anyone who loves word games will LOVE this game. Then if you want to have a lot of fun, try playing Bookworm Adventures. That one is a whole lot of fun as well as you are creating words out of a group of 16 letters. The longer the word, the better your chances of "beating the bad guy". You are challenged by different "monsters" that can stun you, making you lose turns, or any of several other "attacks" on you. Once you play this game, you will become addicted....it keeps you glued, lol. Give it a chance...you will love all three games if you are a word nut like me...

Bookish FUN!
I purchased my bookworm game a few months ago for my Kindle Touch. I have never had any problems at all with it. I have never had a scoring problem or any freezing. I am at over 3 and a half million on about level 80 or so. I now have a Brand new Kindle Fire HD that has no Bookworm. So Sad. So I still have to play on my Kindle Touch without color. The game itself is very addicting. As far as I remember the tiles still burn down just like on the computer game, although the computer has the ability to make larger words, obviously with a bigger screen and more letters. I did notice one difference on the Kindle that I don't remember ever being on the computer. That is, on the Kindle, if you have received a special tile, they call them like...gems of some sort, it takes an extra turn for flaming tiles to burn through them. I have played one game so long that sometimes I get some special tiles all locked down at the bottom of the screen and then no words can be made then I will get some small word and all the letters change at once, giving me usually as few as 10 burning tiles and once or twice up to 15 flaming tiles all dropped at the top of the rows. It is like a shuffle on the computer game where you are penalized. There is no shuffle option on the Kindle, so I guess the dumping of flaming tiles is the remedy for the lack of that function. This only started happening when I went to some high up level and over a million points. Overall it is a great game. I also learn new words, when grasping at straws and it appears there are no words.Unfortunately there is no dictionary attached so it forces me to look up the word. It's even a great brain game for grown ups...since I am well into those years and still love it. Now if I can convince them to make a color version for my Kindle Fire HD so I can see all those little flaming tiles come crashing down!

No good.
This kindle version gives you at least 2 ways to ruin your game. Don't play fast because on thekindle keyboard the menu button is right above the up button. Fat thumb it twice in a rowand you have just shuffled your board. Game ruined. Pay attention when you choose classicbecause the first menu item is "new game". Choosing this drops the current game in progress. Is that smart design? Nope. If "continue game" were first, you could not accidentally deleteyour game by moving too fast. There are no "are you sure" confirmations. Bad programming. Why they put the least desirable menu options at the top of menus is beyond me. "SHUFFLE",seriously? Who shuffles?

A great teaching tool from Amazon
I originally got the free version, for a little fun with the grandchildren, They have become "addicted" to playing this fun spelling game, and I recently purchased the whole game as they (and I) were ready for more challenging words. It is the first thing the 8 and 10 year olds ask for US to do together when they come for a visit. As a former teacher, I am thrilled with this fun, and educational, way for us to spend time. I have been amazed at some of the words these youngsters have spelled
