Works great!
This is my second year using these balls. We live in Florida. We set out two of them near the conservation area on our property since we tend to get yellow flies that have a mean bite. After just 3 weeks out, the balls are 30-50% covered with yellow flies and other flying insects. They do not totally eliminate the flies since they continue to breed in the surrounding area, but significantly reduce the population in the area where they are placed. In a few weeks we will put another coat of spray so they continue to work during the summer. I think they work best when placed where under shade or partial shade. We place ours at the edge of the canopy of an oak tree.

Not impressed
Doesn’t work -Doesn’t catch horse flies or much anything. -Glue is a mess, wear gloves, the applicator brush is tiny for the size of the ball. Traps have been up a couple weeks now and we’ve caught 1 fly in that time. We’ve got a lot of horse flies to catch and none are ending up on this trap. I placed along perimeter fence in full sun. Waste of money and I bought 6. Would not recommend. Quality of product is fine but complete fail at its intended purpose. Maybe you will have better luck but I wouldn’t waste the money on this.

Definitely Recommend!
I’m not one to review items, however these bug balls have far exceeded my expectations. I use them in conjunction with other fly products on my horse farm, and I’m really pleased with these! In the 2 weeks I have had these up, I have caught probably 100 big biting flies on each ball. The can of goo it came with was enough to coat both bug balls 2x each. I did reapply the brush on goo after 2 weeks. They were still tacky, but not sticky. We have had a ton of rain and pretty high heat index in New England as well, so I’m pretty pleased with how well the goo held up. I will also be buying a can of the goo in spray form to touch up every few weeks. I placed them on shorter shepherd’s hooks approximately 4 feet high just on the shade line where the sun starts to hit the trees like the instructions say. Between these and the other fly items I use, people are blown away with how few flys we have here. I highly recommend these as part of your summer fly strategy!

Messy as crap!
One so I like the idea of the bug ball. We just put them up today in hope to help with the flies. So I can’t review on their ability to work. What I can review is how it arrived and how the assembly went. First off!! When it arrived the adhesive was ALL over inside the box and on the bags. Was even double boxed. Was a complete huge mess. Got it all over my hands and half the little bottle of adhesive had leaked out. Also learned the only way to get it off anything is oil. I just used veggie oil and put it on the areas that the stuff got on and then used soap to get the oil off. That alone turned me off the product. Secondly. This is super messy and I won’t order this one again. To apply the adhesive after you get the balls blown up is a process. You have to brush on the adhesive and that is extremely time consuming and a lot of work. I tried brushing it on little at a time being very careful with it and still managed to get it on me and that was with it hung up already. Then I tried the second ball. I decided to put on the adhesive the same way as the first one but hold the ball till it was done and string it up. Even after being extremely careful not to get anything on me I went to hang it up and managed to get it all down my one arm that accidentally touched the ball. By the time I was onto the 3rd ball I was annoyed and sticky as hell. I decided to pour it from the little bottle onto the ball and use the brush and move the adhesive around. That method worked the best but still messy none the less. Now after I got everything hung up I realized the adhesive was dripping down the ball and onto the ground. And guess what my dog did. Laid right under the ball. He laid on what was on the ground plus what had dropped on him. My dog is a pain in the arse. Now I have to oil and bath my dog to get this crap off him and he don’t like baths so lucky me. For all the work this was I hope it works. If your lookin at this one try to get the one with the spray adhesive because this one is waaaaayyyyyyy too messy !!

Great bug destroyers
These kept the yellow flies away but also they attracted the love bugs here in Florida which if you know love bug season, you know it is horrible! We will get more for sure!

They work exactly as they say!
I have three of these in my backyard. They come with a product that you slather all over them. I would suggest using gloves and using them to apply the product versus the brush. They are very sticky. The balls look like graveyards for the biting horsefly and deer flies. It has greatly improved the outdoor for my family and pets. I’m not sure how to clean the product off, so I bought spray cans of the sticky residue and have just been coating those even more. It is sad that when you’re done you throw them away because they will not degrade in the trash. I had left them up all winter. One of them survived as the other two became casualties of my sons target practice. So I think they can be left out over the winter time and then just cleaned off with some water, dried with the air, and then re-sprayed for the next season. That is my plan.

Overpriced, difficult to use and setup, buy a trap or a brand name zapper they work better.
Followed all the directions. Firstly, let me say that these are more of a hassle than anything else, they are very messy to set up with only a tiny brush on applicator. I now have 2 black beach balls that cost me almost 50 dollars. I followed the directions and even tried moving them around to various locations. They DO NOT trap flies like advertised, and only caught less than a 10 in a month. I DO NOT recommend this. Buy a brand name electric zapper like flowtron with bulbs not leds, they work better. Or a dyna trap as they do attract more than these and work more effectively.
