Illustrated Stories from Around the World Review: Classic stories, nicely illustrated, lots of pictures. - Lots of nice illustrations. Very engaging for my three year-old, who will come to understand the stories even more as he grows. We also own Usborne Illustrated Aesop Fables and Fairy Tales. This has more illustrations that Aesop, and shorter, less complicated stories than the Illustrated Fairy Tales book. All are great. Review: Great book for young children of all backgrounds - I'm a huge fan of Usborne books. This one is no exception. Both my five year old girl and my seven year old boy like the stories in this book. It can be hard to find a book that appeals to both genders and both ages, but this one does the trick. My seven year old can read it easily on his own, so it won't be a reading challenge for that age range or higher. Seven years old is just right for self reading of this book. Yet, my son finds the stories interesting and engaging. I think an eight year old would as well, though the reading would be easy. This book is also very interesting for my five year old girl. I read the stories to her, and look forward to when she'll be able to read them on her own. I like the stories. They're different from the standard fare we usually see in kids' books. It's wonderful to see fables from other countries. Also, we are people of color, and it's refreshing to see so many stories with people of different hues. Many of the other "classic" stories, including those in the Usborne books, do not feature people of color. Seeing diversity in reading is just as important as diversity in life. All in all, a great book for young children of any background.

Terrific stories (terrible book binding)
I ordered this book after a fellow mom told me it was her daughter's (age 3) favorite bedtime book. It was an instant hit with both my children (ages 3 and 6), who ask to read stories from it almost every day. My 3-year-old is especially enthralled, but the 6-year-old enjoys the stories, too. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and the texts are just right -- not too long or wordy, but they get the stories across wonderfully. There are stories from India, China, Japan, the United States, England, Scandinavia, Russia, Ancient Greece, the Middle East, and South Africa. The only complaint I have is that the book binding fell apart within a month, with both back and front covers falling off completely. My kids are not especially gentle with their books, but this has never happened before so quickly with any other of their books. Also, there are no stories from Central or South America. Nevertheless, this book is a wonderful collection of stories from around the world, and I highly recommend it.

Perfect!
It came in excellent condition, on time, and it was just what the description had said. The pictures captured my grandson's interest right away, and the stories were perfect for his age (5 year old).

Awesome short stories
I purchased this book as a read aloud for my 4 year old twins. It arrived yesterday and we have already read each story at least twice. The pictures are well done and there is just enough text on each page to tell the story without becoming boring for the 4 year olds listening to it. The book has a nice padded cover and a ribbon for a bookmark. Well worth buying.

Highly recommend.
My 6 year old grandson loves the Usborne illustrated books. He's coming to visit soon and we have this waiting as a surprise for him. I know he'll be thrilled! Highly recommend.

I was able to find other stories for boys and bought 3 of these awesome books. contains many stories that will take you ...
my 7 year old son loves these books, it's definitely creative, different and not the regular little story that you get when you buy a 8 page book. I was able to find other stories for boys and bought 3 of these awesome books. contains many stories that will take you more than one night to read!

Great for young readers
I purchased this for a granddaughter who has finished first grade, and she reads and rereads it. The stories are timeless and give good glimpses of other cultures.

Belles illustrations, livre robuste. En ce qui concerne les histoires, certaines sont bonnes et 1-2 sont un peu "bizarres" à mon goût. J'aime la couverture histoire «internationale». C'est bien, mais...

This is one of our favourite (together with the Illustrated Fairy Tales from Usborne).

I bought several of the Usborne books with collections of various stories, and they really are wonderful. Some have more illustrations, others fewer. But all are beautiful. The simple and yet engaging way they retell these great stories is also perfect for younger kids. Mine is 5.5, but these would easily have worked a year ago and they can be read for several years to come. They use not so simple language but perfect for first/early readers at the same time. So I cannot say enough about how good and on point they are.

l'ho acquistato per mio figlio (7 anni) su consiglio della sua insegnante di inglese: fantastico, semplice per bambini e ben illustrato. Ovvio che per leggerlo con i bambini, anche il lettore deve conoscere l'inglese.

A lovely selection of stories which are a little bit different to the usual fairy tales. The book is a bit smaller than expected (A5 size) but it has a lovely padded cover and beautiful illustrations which catch the child's attention. The stories are short with a couple of lines on each page so ideal for reading to a small child and for the child to start reading themselves when they are old enough.
