YES, this one is a Keeper!
I'm extremely happy with this purchase...Its not the "hyped" high end, over priced, afraid to take it outdoors type of device but it isn't a cheap piece of junk either! It's very well built & put together. Feels solid in the hand, some weight to it but not heavy. I don't feel worried if it fell or was knocked around/fell off something. I think it sounds better laying on its side but does sound almost as good standing up although it needs to be on its side to charge, which to me is a "con" but not much of one.It has an AUX input on the back side of the unit to plug in older iPods/mp3 players under an attached plug to keep the unit water tight when not being used. The overall sound quality is Very good. Produces full/rich bass that you can feel in the surface it's placed on. The bass doesn't get overpowering & distort the music (has wOOx radiator). Mids aren't "hollow"/but are smooth. Highs aren't over powering or ear piercing, they almost seem flat but then again don't. It depends on the song being played..it's like, during one song they aren't very prevalent but in the next song they are shinning & colorful...kinda weird but eh, could just be me.It can easily fill a room or immediate area outdoors with sound. In my opinion I think it could get louder, however if did I think it would sound distorted or sub par & take away from how great it sounds. So its kind of a trade off. Yes I there are " louder" speakers out there but I don't think they sound as good....and don't get me wrong, it does get "loud" just not as loud as I would like in some situations. And again, that's just me...With any Bluetooth speaker consider it's size, don't expect earth shattering sound from 1.6in speakers, so long as your expectations are realistic you simply CAN'T go wrong with this product!Pairing is simple & straight forward with no hassle. It's covered in a silicone/rubberized case to help cushion any drops, the metal tactile volume knob on the top of the unit is a nice touch. The swipe function is neat, haven't seen it on a speaker before, its fun & works almost flawlessly after you get the hang of it. It can be turned on or off (by pushing the button twice) depending on your want/use/need for it.It takes about 3hrs to charge from completely dead. It does NOT have an annoying, bright as a flashlight blue light to irritate the hell out of you. Battery life is close to 8hrs at moderately high volume (75/80%-ish). I've gotten 7 1/2hrs or so regularly. Which isn't too bad, could be better but most speakers I've had up to this point don't get that long of heavy use. I would also like to point out most people don't listen to music straight through the day as I do so it should be more than enough for the typical user of a couple hours here & there...It's marketed to be used outdoors/on the go...that said, like any speaker it depends on your surroundings as to how well you can hear it. For the most part depending on the immediate environment you shouldn't have a problem enjoying your tunes. If this thing gets rained on I'm not gonna freakout, I feel confident it won't get ruined by water. I'm not out to intentionally throw it in puddles but if it was dropped into one on accident I don't think it would hurt it.I have gone through many Bluetooth speakers. I enjoy them & I like to collect them for the sake of just doing it. After a while I get bored with some of them, put them back in their box to give as gifts after giving them a review or take them back after I review them. This particular speaker I am quite fond of so I won't be giving it away or taking it back...I'll defiantly be keeping it!This is now my "go to" speaker. it fills all my wants & "needs" for what I use & have been looking for. So much so, I will be getting another (a black one) so I can have color options...

nice rich sound, surprising bass for the size
I had tried several bluetooth speakers before the ShoqBox, and was thoroughly disappointed. The ShoqBox is amazing however! I use it all the time. It's small enough that it can fit in my pocket as I move throughout my house, and the battery is excellent. I've used it for well over a week without having to recharge. It's simple to pair with devices, and it has a wonderful sound to it, as well as some good bass for such a small speaker. It even does well amplifying my iPad first gen. which doesn't have good volume to begin with. The only issue I've had is at full volume, the speaker can move a little around my countertop - but that's easy enough to address by placing it strategically against a wall or corner. I highly recommend this speaker. Some of the previous bluetooth devices I had are listed below -I had purchased the Spracht Aura Blu Note, which retailed for 129.99, but I didn't pay close to that. The sound was OK, but the bass boost was tinny and the unit vibrated and sounded bad at volumes past 6. It sat to the wayside while in my possession.I also tried a bluetooth speaker (a groupon deal) that suctioned to a shower wall. This surprisingly well made speaker functioned wonderfully. It holds a battery charge like no other - I've had this for 10 months, and I still haven't had to charge it! The only problem is that it's made for a shower, and it doesn't get loud. I believe by design it's supposed to use the close quarters of shower walls to resonate for extra volume.I also picked up a Motorola Roadster as well, mostly for hands free bluetooth while driving, but I also tried using it as a bluetooth speaker solution. I was displeased with this speaker both for driving and talking, as well as listening to music. I realize it's geared more towards handsfree driving, but it wasn't great at that either.

Great speakers - weather and drop proof! Yay for inventing for those who tend to drop things ;)
This is as simple as a speaker can get! I love it that it is weather proof because I wanted something to place it in the kitchen while cooking. With all electronics there is always a problem of what if there is water damage or I spill some sauce over it or something of that sort. This weather proof shoqbox wont let water and splashes spoil the speaker (I hope!) It has only been a week and I am happy, but I will update after couple of months just to make sure that this holds.Pros:1. Compact2. Blue tooth compatible3. Wireless (when charged. I usually charge overnights and take the wires off during the day)4. Weather proofCons:1. It is a bluetooth speaker so the volume depends on the volume of the bluetooth device that you have. I wish it had a volume control to up and down it...but then again it is not a device on its own but just a speaker. I would just like to have knocked off half a star...but I cannot do that so gave a 4 star.2. Range is not that good over walls. My kitchen has a wall and is not of the island type and as long as my phone is somewhere in the ktichen it plays well. But when I take my phone away from the kitchen to the hallway/garage the music is not really clear. However, DH is not an avid music buff so it's only me and if I am not there, its okay if the music is blotchy. Still, would like for my speaker to to be clear atleast in the same floor anywhere..
