Q: do they slide down legs while working or do they have a straps or suspenders to prevent that?

Waistband clips securely. Legs are closed at the bottom & have straps to clip around the thighs, but I cut the straps off; more comfortable & they still protect me just fine. This covering is great!

Q: What size would fit my 42 waist?

I'm a 34" waist and a medium is plenty sized to fit over bulky work pants. The waist of these is, of course, open in the back and has an adjustable belt. Do a google search for Forester Trimmer Chaps. The supplier's web site has an expanded sizing chart.

Q: What is the difference between the Navy and Green?

Navy is a little better quality.
