This is a must have to protect your knives stored in a drawer. Excellent Quality. Fits my 8" MAC chef's knife perfectly.

I purchased two of these to protect my two very pricey chef knives. I am VERY satisfied with this product and am very pleased that I decided to experiment and try it. One of my chef knives is used just about on a daily basis. This means that I snap the BladeSafe open remove/re-insert my chef knife almost every single day. If it were not almost effortless, it would have been a failed experiment. However, it performs the job I desired (protect the blade) and it is very practical in that it takes about one second to either get the knife out or re-insert the knife when finished. The 'idea' was to completely avoid having to store my knives in one of my kitchen drawers. I wanted to have my chef knife 'out' on my kitchen counter inside of my kitchen utensil crock. This is exactly what I accomplished with the BladeSafe. Of course, if you prefer to store your knives in a drawer, the BladeSafe would provide exactly the same protection for your knife. I highly recommend this product. UPDATE ON MY ORIGINAL REVIEW - APRIL 22, 2013 These have resulted as one of the best buys EVER! Easy to use, easy to open, easy to close. When the knives are in the protector I just place them in my utensil crock along with other pieces that I use either daily or frequently. I highly recommend them.

Are you troubled by dark spirits invading your home and slinging your fine cutlery at you from across the kitchen? Well, we all know how annoying that can be. (Been there, got the T-Shirt). If you are having those kinds of problems, I highly recommend this product. They may be able to get the knife out of the drawer and throw it at you, but it will just fall harmlessly to the floor, because they just can''t get these fine sheaths off. And no more having to re-sharpen all your knives every time your unwanted spectral guests fling a fit ! These well made guards fit a variety of non-Victorinox blades quite well, and are very secure. The only downsides are the extra step of opening up the case to use the blade, and the fact that they are slightly bulky. Given the inconvenience of going to the emergency room for stitches when someone has an accidental encounter with a truly sharp blade, and the protection these guards provide from damage to the keen edge on a properly sharpened knife, those drawbacks are minor indeed. These guards were also favorably reviewed by Cook's Illustrated, and you know how picky they are. If you have very sharp knives in your drawers, you should order a complete set of these guards. Your hands will thank you. Your "haints" however, will be most unhappy.

To be fair, it does what it's supposed to do. I have a Victorinox 8" Chef's knife. It fits in this case perfectly. The closure is tight, so I don't worry about the knife coming out of the case. My one problem is that the rubber pieces attached to each side of the case leave marks on the knife. It may be me and my OCD issues, but I almost had a meltdown the first time I removed my brand new beautiful knife from this case and saw those marks. They do come off when you wash the knife, but you can still see a shadow of a mark. Is it a chemical reaction? No clue. So, yes, the case works well, but be aware that it does leave a mark on the knife. Just putting it out there for all you other OCDers. My husband told me that I was overreacting a bit when I started wailing about how my new knife was ruined. I asked him how he would react if something like this happened to his brand new Playstation 4. That shut him right up! I've never had a nice knife (and therefore case) before, so for all I know they may all have that rubber piece that does the same thing.

It clamps the blade in the case, well built and great protection.

Product, Price, & Service. Last year my wife said she had seen a Henkel knife that had a curve to it and wanted on to add to her set. I went to the store where she said she had seen the knife only I could not find the knife she described in fact I went to 3 other stores looking for this knife no luck. So I turned to Amazon and came across a 3 piece Victorinox set with a birds beak knife, with good reviews I ordered her a set only to find out X-Mas that this was not what she wanted. Fast forward 1 year and that 3 piece set has become her favorite set and she the bird beak just might have the number 1 spot. All forgiven, in fact this year we bought our son and daughter the same 3 piece set as well as the steak knife sets. Oh and she wanted another one for herself for our RV. Funny Thing about these Victorinox knives they do strike you as a real high quality knife until you use it the sharpness and ease that cut is a real joy We will be adding more Victorinox knives in the future

I like that when putting my very sharp Wusthof Classic Chef Knife into it I can just lay it in the "clam shell type" case and close it. My hand never comes close to the blade. The conventional sheaths however I was afraid if I slip trying to insert it into the narrow opening it might cut my hand that is holding it. It also fits my 8 inch blade perfectly. Great product for the price!
