IS335 WIRED PIR Motion Detector, 40' x 56' by Honeywell

In these days of smart home automation, some of the wireless solutions don't meet the standards of the solid centurions of their wired predecessors. This device is one of the oldie-but-goodies. Not only reliable, easy to install, no batteries to change, looks good and all of that but will technically out-perform the wireless variety. Don't believe me? Check the instructions on the wireless offerings--actually read it--and you'll find that many will only trigger/report once every 3 minutes "to conserve batttery life". Motion detectors are devices that need to report every time a suspect moves into the area of protection. That isn't protection, its amusement known as Security Theater. Stick with wired tech whenever possible for lower cost, longer life and reliable performance. This is one of those devices.

Easy installation and works like original

I have a 25+ year old Brinks/ now ADT house security system. One night motion was detected by one of the three sensors in the house. I finally noticed that the light on the one sensor didn’t come on when approached. I replaced it with this sensor and it corrected the problem. Easy to replace and wire. I then bought two more in case any others wear out. I’ve only had it in a few weeks but is working well. Excellent replacement and quick delivery.

Works as advertised, and 5 stars for function and ease of installation. I knocked off one star because it would be so easy to improve the documentation ... need to (1) mention the physical sensor size more prominently -- it is 2/3 the size of my old one, and I had to get the sheetrock mud out for cosmetic repairs under the old one (not the manufacturer's fault, but I wish I had been prepared), and (2) my old sensor had a better documentation about the height of the pet for pet immunity -- this one talks about the weight of the pet, but says nothing about pet height (tall dogs) or infrared signatures (massive dogs like bulldogs), or dogs that jump a lot (Jack Russell Terriers). In their effort to "dumb-down" the instructions, the manufacturer failed to convey the way the sensor works.

Was getting a zone 2 fault on the motion zone. Replaced the detector and the fault went away. Four wires to swap. Easy DIY. Remove old detector to verify model before ordering.

My old off-brand motion detector went bad after several years, so I bought this one because it was the same brand as my panel. Happy to report it works great and is actually smaller than my old one. Hopefully it'll last longer, but I won't know that for a while. So far, so great!

So far working Great! Replaced my 30yr old motion detector without any problems. Have and old CPI Advantage Security System.

Seems to work OK with my 1990s Moose alarm system but it is poorly designed if you want to mount the top of the unit flush with the ceiling. The way the cover hinges at the top, it is not possible to mount it flush as made. If you install it flush like I did to conceal the wires coming from the ceiling, you will have to cut off the nubs on the hinge. No big deal but a hassle that is not necessary since they should have factored the fact that this might be mounted flush with the ceiling. And if you are like me, you don't realize this issue until the very end AFTER you have already drilled wall anchors, you will be very upset that you have to jury rig a fix to make it work.

Bought to replace a 20-year old motion sensor from an ADT system. New unit was about 1/3 the size, so there are fitment issues and wall scratches to deal with. Unit has very similar 4-wire coding (NC, C, +, -) so hookup was easy. Red LED illuminates when motion is detected, so it is easy to check if unit is working. Pet detector jumper is easy to figure out. Overall, works well, drawback is size.
