Gamblin Mediums Set

This medium set will definity allow you to understand the different natures of mediun and how could you add variety and vibrancy in your artwork through them.

A nice set that gives you a opportunity to try out different mediums. I paid $23.37 for this product. At first that seemed a little spendy for a sample set. But after looking at how much each of these products cost on their own, that is a decent price. However I would not pay more than that. This brand is probably the best available that's made in the US at the moment. They appear to pride themselves on making a environmentally friendly product that is relatively safe for the consumer. There are some other good brands that are produced in Europe as well. This is a nice set for someone trying out oil painting for the first time. It can give you a feel for using different mediums without costing you too much. In the long run you'll probably choose two or three to use in your every day art work. However it's nice to always try new things and see what fits your style. Read all the directions that come with the products so you don't waste it. With oil painting it's important to use products that will dry quicker when you first start your painting, and use other products that dry slower as you get closer to finishing your painting. Otherwise your painting will not dry properly and will develop cracks and possibly start chipping.

I recently switched my painting medium to oil based products and purchase this set to sample and see what mediums were best suited for my style and technique goals. This product exceeded my expectations. The quality of the mediums is excellent and has allowed me to experiment and learn with quality products without breaking the bank! I've found great technique results when using different mediums for different purposes within the same painting. It has really been fun working with them and sharing them with others in the studio/class. The clear storage pouch is quite handy and of good quality. It also comes with a very well designed and written info pamphlet. Will definitely be purchasing several of the items in larger quantities, but will refill the little bottles, as the kit is super handy when you paint off-site.

Wonderful little case of everything you need to take your oil painting on a plein air trip or just to a friends or class. Also let’s you try everything and you can refill the bottles if you run out. It’s hard to carry your big bottles around. Worth it!

This is such a great (and relatively inexpensive) way to get to experiment with multiple mediums by Gamblin without investing in large bottles of a medium you may not like. This is how I discovered that Neomegilp is the ideal alkyd medium for how I like to work. This does not contain every medium that Gamblin makes, but it will give you a good idea of the entire spectrum.
