Phosbond works pretty well.

I don't know why it won't work but it isn't. I have well water which has high silicates and this was supposed to take care of the diatom algae but hasn't touched it.

but it has zero effect on silicate which was disappointing. I love everything Seachem. An amazing company and incredible customer service...unparalleled in the Aquarium business

This didn't work in my tank. I have a 37 gallon, not heavily planted aquarium that isn't over populated with fish. I'd been using the Seachem's Phosguard & it was working. But I thought I'd give this a try, thinking it would be better, stronger and last longer. But it didn't. Once I switched out the phosguard to the phosbond my tank immediately started growing hair algee. I followed all the instructions & had this in the top of my canister filter, packed tight in a small filter bag to make sure it wouldn't be able to roll against itself, just as the phosguard instructions calls for as well. After 4 days, I switched it out, as it calls for, since my phosphate levels were still not down & the hair algee wasn't getting any better. After replacing it with new phosbond & doing another partial water replacement, the hair algee continued to grow and the phosphates still wasn't coming down. Finally, I switched back to the phosguard and my tank started getting back to where I had it prior to trying this. Not saying that this won't work for others, it just didn't work in my tank.
