These are well worth the money and very sturdy but get different straps.
These work great on my 2003 4 door blazer. It fits. The kayaks that we have are an Ascend FS10 and a Future Beach Fusion 10. It was easy to assemble. Some people say that it's hard. Don't let them scare you. If you can build a small legos set for kids ages 10+ then you'll have the mechanical prowess to put these together and install them on your car. Times for everything assuming you are using all four J-bars for two kayaks and only one person doing the labor: -First time assembly and installation to the roof: 1 hour -Loading two kayaks first time: 30 minutes (to figure out how you wanna strap them) -Unloading two kayaks: 5 minutes -Re-loading two kayaks: 10 minutes -Removing the J-bars from the rack: 10 minutes -Reinstalling the J-bars to the rack: 10 minutes They don't require full disassembly to be removed from the roof which is why removal and re-installation is so fast. They are extremely sturdy. I loaded and strapped down my kayaks and then shook the kayaks and watched the crossbars of my roof bend up and down. There was ZERO play in the kayak and the J-bars. Now for the bad: I didn't trust the cam straps. I loaded the kayaks, strapped them in, and then shook the kayaks and was able to pull the straps loose. Considering how much more expensive brand name J-hooks are versus how cheap reliable straps are, I can't in good conscious knock a star off. This is still a 5/5 star product for the money, but you need to order better straps. I use cheap tow strap that I had lying around in my garage but I don't recommend those since people warn that tow straps can warp plastic kayaks. I've used tow straps the past few outings but this season I plan on investing $15 into a better set of cam straps. EDIT TO ADD LINK TO REPLACEMENT STRAPS: I replaced the straps that came with this product with these. I was able to carry my kayak on a 4 hour trip averaging a speed of 60 mph to 70 mph, using these J-bars and those cam straps. I left my review of those. They are a 5/5 product. Main rack components are very good, but had to replace some bolts and straps are inadequate
Overall I am satisfied, from sturdiness to value-for-money, especially given the price of name brand alternatives. Comments here are after 2 weeks of use, spring 2021. The racks are successfully carrying a pair of 14" Perception sea kayaks (appx 55lbs each) on top of an 2006 Lexus RX SUV. The "J" part of these racks... the workhorse component to the system... seem to be solid. Minor to moderate gripes below to help you make a buying choice. Gripe 1 - The foamy, anti-scratch/anti-gouge covers to the J bar could cover MORE of the J bar in my opinion. Getting a heavy kayak high enough for a roof rack inevitably involves some collisions and scraping. Minor quibble. Gripe 2 - These J bars don't fold down, and you can definitely hear significant wind noise when driving around with the empty racks still attached. Short of a very expensive fold-down rack, probably not much you can do about that. Gripe 3 - The clasping bits that attach the J bar to your car's crossbar are unrefined and clumsy. This won't be a big bother if you have a garage or driveway or safe neighborhood and can leave them on all the time. Frequent on and off in a city environment, such as mine, however, is a hassle. I am not sure other brands have a better system for quick attachment, but this part of the rack definitely doesn't feel state of the art. It works, but it's crude. Gripe 3.1 - The bottom clamping plate *should* be rubberized since it will inevitably bump and scratch your roof while installing... but it is not. Not a dealbreaker, just a 'you get what you pay for' realization. My car is older so I'm not stressed about it, but if I had a nicer car I sure would be. Gripe 3.2 - Two bolts pass through the base of the Jbar assembly and cinch a bottom plate to your car's crossbar, fastened tightly by a hand-twist nut on each bolt. That bolt was too long for my car: Once the weight of the kayak hit the car's crossbars, the protruding extra bolt below the hand-twist nut gouged the vehicle roof. Replacing this bolt with a shorter replacement wasn't too big a deal (see photos for the exact replacement I chose: M8 1.25 x 50 stainless steel) but it did take an extra trip to the dreaded big box hardware store. Note that the collar of the original bolt has a square shape to lock it into the base of the J bar assembly, thereby preventing it from rotating when tightening the thumb bolt. The replacement I found has 6 sides and won't lock into place the same way, a moderate annoyance. You may have better luck with service/assistance at your local hardware store than I did to find a more exact match. Or maybe you have the tools to cut the provided bolts. Gripe 4 - Final reality check are the included straps. The strap and cinch buckle are inadequate for anything than a gentle cross-town run. Budget for separate 1.5" straps with a quality cinch buckle (e.g. NRS straps). And, dont forget to get fore and aft cords which don't seem to be included in many/any other racks out there, and certainly aren't here. Yes, the included straps are functionally serviceable, at least for a few uses, but I wouldn't dream of taking them out on a highway journey! Again, bottom line, a great alternative to more expensive name brand options. Just be sure to plan for some hardware adjustments plus additional straps and cords.

Great price for a sturdy, no frills product.
O.k. - straight up; this is VERY inexpensive for 2 kayak racks. it's not going to have extensive padding or any bells and whistles. However, this is a very well built set of racks for that price. The assembly is easy and the parts fit together with the minimum of fuss. I have no clue what is confusing people about the assembly process. Yes; there is only an exploded schematic to guide you through assembly, but if you have ever assembled a blender you should do fine lol. The carriers where not a perfect fit for my 2018 Honda CRV with factory rack and rails, but fit tightly, securely, and with plenty of clearance to work the bolts and adjust the spacing. The padding will probably not last that long, but if you have access to a dollar store with pool noodles that shouldn't be a deal breaker. First trip was 189 miles each way at highway speeds (65-80 mph). Checked the racks at 20 and 90 miles and they were as secure as the day was long. Use ratchet straps in place of the provided straps to secure the kayak and use the ones provided as Bow lines back to the carrier, since I would think a more secure connection is optimal. One 15 foot ratchet strap allows a figure eight around the set for me. Don't be a gorilla cranking down the ratchet strap(s) - obviously. Remember...it's a kayak, not a chest of drawers. Very pleased - friends buying them also after taking a look.

Good racks, get different straps!
Good racks for the price. Straps were not long enough to fit over a lifetime tahoma kayak so keep that in mind! But the racks themselves were easy to assemble and easy to install!

Not used them yet but have assembled and being bespoke steel worker I can honestly say they are made very well! The straps they come with will be upgraded but I can't say anything about them as I didn't know they came with straps which was a bonus because they will come in handy

I couldn't be happier with this kayak roof rack! It's incredibly sturdy and reliable, giving me the peace of mind I need when transporting my kayak. The installation process was a breeze, thanks to clear instructions and all the necessary hardware included. The adjustable straps securely hold my kayak in place, even during long highway drives. The foam padding protects both my kayak and car from scratches. This roof holder has definitely made my kayaking adventures much more convenient and stress-free. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a dependable solution for transporting their kayak!
