Great Purchase
A sad event (my mom passing away) led me to purchase this scanner. I was originally looking for a dedicated photo scanner to scan thousands of photos, but the one I had settled on was out of stock everywhere. Decided to take a chance on this and I'm so glad I did!It scans photos great if you are just looking for digital copies or to reprint at a similar size. Some of the scanned prints look even better than the originals as far as color and contrast. The document scanning is even better and at the time I didn't realize how much I would use it for scanning and making copies of documents. It was a snap to setup, I barely had to do anything at all. Pulled it out of the box, put in the memory card, charged it and I was ready to go. Software/app was easy to install and intuitive to use.I wish I had purchased this for my mom while she was still around. I think it would be great a scanner for anyone, but would make a fantastic gift for aging parents to help them digitize their photo collections and get a handle on all their paperwork. Just get them all setup, and they can scan photos and documents while watching TV or sitting somewhere comfortable, no need to be stuck at the computer.

Very nice portable scanner - for the park or camping. Check specifications on the particular model.
I like this little scanner. Portable, easily travels with you. It is certainly not intended for scanning lots of stuff but does serve its 'niche' very well - a scanner you can set up in small space on your counter and scan the occasional document that comes in the mail. Or take it with you to the park, or when you go camping. Works great. Has an internal memory, so you can save directly to the scanner and later transfer to your computer.I think the Doxie scanner I bought is a slightly older model and because of the rechargeable battery+internal memory is more portable than more recent models. Be sure to check the specs on the exact model you are thinking of buying.

Possible Fire Hazard!
BEWARE!!!1 day after we received and plugged this in we had a house fire in the office in the basement where the scanner was used. I noticed that the scanner has had reports of charging issues which could definitely be a fire hazard. Please do not buy this scanner and get f you do, please take precautions that be sure there is no fire hazard.

Great product and great customer service
After an initial hiccup with turning this on, I was pleasantly surprised by the Doxie customer service department which went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. So, on to the product review: this is the second Doxie I own. I’ve had the other Doxie for 4 or 5 years now. So, why am I buying a second one? Well, one of the best scanners I owned : scans fast, stores the scans on a SD card (most of the other manufacturers there need you to connect with an usb cable to download the files), so it’s pretty easy to move scans around without having to find your cable. And, next thing : the battery rules . You can scan stuff for days :)

Excellent product, easy to use with excellent scan quality
This is exactly what I was looking for. Portable, easy to use and excellent quality for scanning snapshots. My goal is to archive all the family pictures without putting the rest of my life on pause. The renewed product looked and worked like new. Recommended

Unhappy with photo scan quality
I purchased this scanner less than a year ago. I didn't realize that it was essentially discontinued and that it uses software that you download onto a PC. Both of these things would be alright if the photo quality was better. It seems to pick up a piece of lint or something into the device which puts a line onto your photos. I'm cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and it doesn't stay clean. It is altogether too difficult to keep pristine and you can't see how your photos are looking until you take out the SD card and put it in your computer and look at the photos. It might be awesome for scanning documents, IDK because I didn't get it for that. It scans FAST and if the scans didn't come out with a line on the photo, this would be the best scanner ever.

Dollar for dollar
Not the best in the market, but for the price, it performs the task I need. If I were scanning images that needed to be of the highest quality, I would invest my money elsewhere. But if you just need something to easily scan documents and basic materials, it’s great.
