Diane Keaton shines as George's patient, levelheaded wife, while funnyman Martin Short lights up the screen as the off-the-wall wedding consultant. FATHER OF THE BRIDE vows to deliver fun for the entire family! FATHER OF THE BRIDE PART II: Expect crowd-pleasing entertainment when Steve Martin, Diane Keaton and Martin Short return in this hilarious sequel to the comedy smash, FATHER OF THE BRIDE. When his newlywed daughter and his wife both announce they are pregnant, George (Martin) desperately tries to recapture the wild and crazy days of his youth. You'll love every minute of FATHER OF THE BRIDE, PART II -- a riotous comedy that really delivers! desertcart.com Father of the Bride This '90s update of the Spencer Tracy-Elizabeth Taylor hit is a mix of the pleasant and the silly, a nice enough movie but a little too controlled to become particularly interesting. Steve Martin plays the aging patriarch who is threatened by his daughter's engagement and not-quite-willing to let her go. The writing-directing team of Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyers provides Martin's character with a perhaps too-broad range of comic responsiveness to the situation, some of it gentle (a ritual game of basketball between dad and his little girl) and some of it slapstick (Martin sneaking around his prospective in-laws' house and encountering a guard dog). Martin Short turns up as a wedding coordinator--which has deliriously delicious possibilities--but his inventiveness doesn't quite strike the chord this time. --Tom Keogh Father of the Bride Part 2 Everybody important from the first film, including the writing-directing team of Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyers, regroups for this sequel involving a pair of pregnancies. Steve Martin's patriarch has a crisis when his married daughter (Kimberly Williams) is with child, and an even bigger one when his middle-aged wife (Diane Keaton) announces that another bambino is on the way. Martin Short is more effectively used this time around (he played the wedding coordinator in the first film), and while this movie's inevitable climax has both women giving birth on the same chaotic night, the overall effect of the film is less contrived than its predecessor. --Tom Keogh Review: Good, but a little silly - I remember way back when everyone went wild over this movie, all because of the trailer, which showed the hot dog scene in the store. After seeing that, most everyone thought it promising to be a riot. It was back in Steve Martin's heyday. Now, you don't hear about him so much. He's good. His movies are funny, including these two, although I kind of.think his relationship with the dotting daughter is kind of overdramatized and his reaction to her getting married is kind of far fetched in part one. Most parents are extremely happy to hear that their children are finally getting married and are moving out of the house! And the same thing about part two. His reaction to the pregnancies are kind of extreme. But, funny moments, although they probably couldn't come up with a third sequel, such as Grandfather of the bride or.something. . Too many things in the world have changed since.these movies have come out. They all got too old. Review: Very Entertaining.Great movie. - This is the best movie.Entertaining, never a dull moment.Funny, you will love it.You have to watch the first one and then the second one is even better.

Quality movie
I've always enjoyed watching these movies. Mr. Banks reminds me of my own dad. It has that sweet 90's feel to the movies. Everything was just better seeming from then. Very fun, wholesome movie. Dad's would enjoy this movie particularly, I feel.

Very tender and sweet story that we can hardly ever see these days. Hope to see them make more family friendly films like these. And hope they make the 4K version of these two.

Love these movies! Good price! I only wish it has Spanish audio.
Love these movies! This collection was $19.99 for a really long time, but was marked eventually to $12.99, so “good things come to those who wait!” A lot of the graininess has been taken out of the original film in the blu-ray, I assume the DVD is the same (I haven’t watched the DVD yet). I only wish that the menu were easier to navigate. I also wish it had audio in Spanish, I thought it did so I’m a little disappointed.

Love the Father of The Bride movies and great to be able to add this to the collection. I do wish that both films weren't included on just one disc however, can feel a little tacky. The video presentation is of good quality, better than the previous DVD presentations. However, it is not the best blu ray transfer I have seen.

This box set contains the original 1991 and follow-up 1995 films in which hapless dad, George Banks [Steve Martin] ‘loses’ his daughter Annie –she’ just got married, and so he relates the events of the past six months. The follow-up sees Mr Bank’ become a grandfather. Hitting mid life crises, George hates the thought of his little girl getting married and fiancé Bryan can do nothing right in his eyes, but can time change George’ opinions and just how did the wedding pan out? Long in the tooth this may be but it still delivers the gags and the expressions speak volumes. Some great well placed music, excellent timing and a good storyline all make this a hilarious watch, but it’s really Franck [pronounced Fronck]; the wedding planner who steals the show and makes this memorable. The box set is rated PG and while the single part 1 disc offers play, set up [English or Spanish, subtitles; English, Spanish, most scandinavian countries] and scene selection, but there are none on Part II. The original is one of the few films that still causes me to laugh all the way through, but the follow-up is less universal in its approach and is the weaker of the two.
