The Works of Alfred Lord Tennyson Review: Excellent Product :)!!! - Excellent item, support and service :)!!! Review: A Beautiful Read! - This is a beautifully designed tome of the author's work. Throughout my life, I'd always heard of Mr. Tennyson's poetry, but, had never rad it. Now that I am attempting to read all of the classics, I had to purchase this book. I'm sorry that I took so long to read it. His prose has a dark, brooding sensuality that, unlike much of today's "art", is never vulgar. I appreciate that. The book arrived exactly when the sender said that it would, and it arrived in the condition in which it was described. I'm very happy with my purchase.

It's a grand collection
The reason we still go to Keats, and Yeats, and Tennyson, and Wordsworth is the power of the words and the way it opens the mind to see life in spectrums of beauty and melancholy. If you are approaching poetry for the first time and are unsure where to go. This volume is a very strong start.

Tennyson is a masterful poet, his verse is hypnotic
Of Tennyson's poems, In Memoriam A. H. H. and Maud stand out as personal favourites. In these poems he evokes a gentle blend of melancholy, connectedness with the land and countryside, and a tangible sense of the eternity of life and nature and ones personal destiny within these. His poems are mesmerizing, his rhythmic language and masterful blending of words draws a reader in, and has a hypnotic effect. He isn't trite, clumsy, or contrived. His subjects share the spirit of the Pre-Raphaelite painter's subjects, they are often brooding, forlorn, existing an empty, melancholic, roaming life in a garden of Eden. To the reader, his subjects are real, full and beautiful and are at once human and metaphysical.

Alfred Lord Tennyson is an amazing poet and this book contains all his famous works. My personal favorites are Ulysses and The Lotus Eaters. Would really recommend this book to whoever is interested in Tennyson's work

Good listing of work but wasn't what I needed.
I purchased this to compare the prints he used with his poetry for a reference project. Unfortunately, copies of the prints used and tied to his original poems were not in the book. But quality of the book was fine.

Does not include the poetry from the 1827 "Poems by Two Brothers" (in reality three!), neither are there any of the plays included which is a great pity. Still for under 5 euro certainly worth having. Print and font easy on the eye, good format. Tennyson is much neglected, and despite being very uneven, when he shines he is truly excellent. I hope more people can be introduced to him through this inexpensive edition and read his poetry rather than simply accept the myth of him being a boring old Victorian fogey - if you want moody introspection, insanity, death, blood and morbidity, forget the usual Romantic suspects you've been told to read and instead go to Tennyson's "Maud"!
